Así que por fin me rendí y compré unos Hanna Checkers, llevo entrando y saliendo del hobby desde finales de los 80 y siempre me he fiado de las pruebas de titulación pero con mi último acuario no he conseguido afinar mis parámetros, probé un número y mi LFS con mi propio kit de prueba obtuvo un número completamente diferente. Sé que estos kits de prueba varían mucho de un fabricante a otro y de un usuario a otro pero mis propias pruebas seguidas unas tras otras estaban por todas partes. Sé que las pruebas Hanna tienen variaciones pero para mí y mis ojos viejos es mucho más fácil leer un número en una pantalla digital que intentar distinguir entre tonos de rosa, azul y verde.
So, I finally broke down and bought some Hanna Checkers, I've been in and out of the hobby since the late 80s and have always relied on titration tests but with my latest system I have not been able to nail down my parameters, I tested one number and my LFS with my own test kit tested a wildly different number. I know these test kits vary wildly from manufacturer to manufacturer and from user to user but my own back to back tests were all over the place. I know Hanna tests have variations but for me and my old ass eyes it's much easier to read a digital number display than try to distinguish between shades of pink, blue and green.

También tuve dificultades al principio para meter el reactivo en el vial. Al final miré el procedimiento oficial de prueba en YouTube y el tipo dobló el sobre del reactivo en triángulo y cortó la parte superior. Crea un pliegue perfecto y no he derramado el reactivo desde entonces. Voy a ver si puedo compartir un link aquí
I was struggling with getting the reagent into the vial at first as well. I ended up watching the official testing procedure on YouTube and the guy folded the reagent packet into a triangle and cut the top off. It creates a perfect crease and I haven’t spilt the reagent since. I’ll see if I can post a link here

¡Yo también hice lo que hiciste! Volví al hobby en enero e inmediatamente pedí Hanna Checkers. Me gusta la facilidad de uso aunque su forma sugerida de poner el reactivo en los viales para probar es complicada, solo haciendo un "embudo" con el envoltorio del reactivo. Te sugiero que uses un pequeño embudo de plástico, como uno de perfume creo. Abre el envoltorio completamente y vierte a través del embudo. La cantidad de polvo/partículas que he dejado caer en el lateral del vial sobre la mesa es absurda.
I also did what you did! Got back into the hobby January and immediately ordered Hanna Checkers. I do like the ease of use however, their suggested way of putting the media into the vials to test is rough, just making a "funnel" with the media wrapper. I suggest using a small plastic funnel, say like a perfume funnel I think. Open the wrapped completely and dispense it through the funnel. The amount of powder/particles I've dropped on the side of the vial onto the table is absurd.

Yeah, agreed, it takes some focus, at least for me it does, to get the powder into the vial. It took me a few test runs before I got it and established a solid baseline for my numbers
Es una buena idea lo del embudo, tengo mujer e hijas en casa, apuesto a que puedo encontrar algo entre todos sus trastos de belleza que funcionará perfectamente
That's a good idea about the funnel, I got a wife and daughters in the house, I bet I can find something amongst all their beautification gear that will work just right
