Description
The Clown Triggerfish is a vibrant, tropical saltwater fish known for its unique and striking coloration. It has a dark body, speckled with large, white spots and its belly is painted with bright yellow and light blue stripes. Its mouth, which is small and positioned at the end of its snout, is surrounded by a white band, resembling a clown's makeup, hence its name.
Reef Safe?
The Clown Triggerfish is not considered reef safe as it tends to nip at or consume invertebrates and coral.
Environment
This fish requires a large tank with plenty of hiding spots, which can be provided through rocks and caves. The Clown Triggerfish prefers warmer water, typically between 72-78°F.
Behavior
The Clown Triggerfish is known to be quite aggressive, especially towards other fish of the same species. It is also known to rearrange rocks and corals in its environment.
