Description
A fast-moving eastern Pacific wrasse; juveniles and females wear black and yellow horizontal stripes over a pink belly, while terminal males develop a blue-green head, a broad yellow saddle and a red-maroon body. It is a bold, boisterous fish that will harass timid tankmates and should not be kept with other Thalassoma, so house it with similarly robust species in a large tank with open swimming room, heavy rockwork and a deep sand bed it can bury in at night. Provide a tightly fitting lid, this species is a notorious jumper, and feed meaty foods several times daily to fuel its constant activity.

Behavior
This fish is known for its active and playful behavior. It is a swimmer and requires plenty of space to move around. During the day, it is often seen darting around the tank, while at night, it prefers to hide in the rocks or sand.
