Description
The Snowflake Eel, also known as the Snowflake Moray Eel, is a popular saltwater fish known for its unique and attractive pattern. Its body is dark with numerous golden or yellow spots, giving it the appearance of a "snowflake", thus the name. It is a nocturnal creature, often hiding during the day and coming out to hunt at night.
Reef Safe?
No. Snowflake Eels can disturb the substrate and knock over corals and other decorations. They may also eat invertebrates in a reef tank.
Environment
Snowflake Eels prefer a tank with plenty of hiding spots. They are nocturnal and will spend most of the day hiding in caves or crevices. The tank should have a tight-fitting lid to prevent them from escaping.
Behavior
Snowflake Eels are generally peaceful with fish that are too large for them to swallow. However, they will eat smaller fish and invertebrates. They are known to be escape artists, so a well-sealed tank is necessary.
