Best Aiptasia treatment? First time dealing with it so not sure if adding a file fish or a copperband. Any experiences with those?

Filefish defs my go to for Aiptasia way less hassle than copperbands plus they munch other nuisance algae too. How big’s ur tank?

User Avatar @Joan 103d

4ftx20” I’m debating between one or the other

User Avatar @Effervescent_Tulip_46 103d

Nice size tank! If you want low hassle and multitasking, filefish are solid. Copperbands look cool but can be

User Avatar @Joan 103d

Did you get your filefish wild caught or aquaculture?

User Avatar @BohicasReef 104d

Copperbands are the best, but they can be hard to keep as they don’t eat frozen right away. If you can find one that is eating frozen you have a better chance of the fish not dying

Had one in the past wild caught but it died cuz I had a velvet outbreak and now that I haven’t had fish in the tank for almost 1 months I just saw a bunch of aiptasia on a rock that popped up all of the sudden

User Avatar @BohicasReef 102d

Dang hate to hear that. Yeah CBs gotta eat off the rocks until they can decide to eat frozen

How many do you have ? I had 3 last month and put a blob of glue over them and they are gone since

User Avatar @Joan 103d

There’s probably around 20 heads on a rock so I’m a bit afraid of using F-aiptasia and make it worse as they are small. Did you kill them with some kalkwasser paste and then glue?

User Avatar @708_reef 102d

I've had %100 success with kalk alone throughout the years. I just cover them with a dab out of a wide syringe anytime they hitch over on something.

User Avatar @Joan 102d

I’ll try that. I’ll be able to add fish probably in 1 month so it’ll be 2 months total since the velvet outbreak. If I see them growing a lot I’ll use the kalk otherwise wait to add a Copperband
