Well, I thought I was doing alright and I came back from camping a bit early to find my hammer isn’t doing as well as I thought.
We got it June 12 and I only just glued it on the 4th of July.
We moved it a couple times staying within the lower third and found that it looked fullest when it was where we placed it.
Well today, its polyps are way retracted and skeleton is in full view…don’t recall nor have a picture from the 10th when I did tank work.
I worked on getting the alk from a suspected bad batch of salt and got it up from low 6 up to 8.5 over the course of 2 weeks or so. We left for 3 days and it was 8.5 when we left and still at 8 when I tested today.
Slow dosing back to 8.5 to see if she’s grumpy.

Pull that hammer out slowly and smell that thing. If it smells like asshole it’s brown jelly. Either trash it or play games with it and google in another qt tank. Watch your other corrals if so. Doesn’t look like it from the pics but better safe than sorry!
Unfortunately it’s glued and would be a pain to dismantle. I lessened light and dosed a bit of alk to get back up after the couple days gone
Your hammer suffered stress from frequent relocation plus huge alkalinity fluctuation. It’s still in its adaptation period after mounting. Don’t adjust Alk back to 8.5 immediately, just keep everything stable at 8.0 for days, and leave it alone without moving. Good luck!

Hope she perks up 🤞!
