I have all this thick hair algae in my 15 gallon tank for quite some time now. I just wonder if there is a way to actually get rid of it without taking all the rock out of the tank and hitting it with hydrogen peroxide. Doing that may disrupt the cycle in the tank and cause another ammonia spike and who knows what else.

Bro that algae looks savage try adding some snails or a cleaner fish to munch it down fast

That green hair algae can be such a pain in small tanks like your 15 gallon! Sometimes adding a couple of snails or peppermint shrimp helps keep it in check without messing up your cycle too much. Also double check your nutrient levels and flowhair algae loves low flow spots and excess nutrients!

I'd agree, that much algae and a lot of spirorbid snails makes me think that nutrients are too high. Tricky thing is that testing may be show that Po4 and NO3 are low but only cos the algae and snails are consuming it all.

I'd run nopox at a low dose to weaken the hair algae then go over it with a siphon it comes off much easier in my experience.
