Part of my Kenya tree is bloating up. Why is this occurring and anything I should be doing?

Are you sure that’s a Kenya tree? I had a coral looked just like that. It was a Solomon hairy finger leather, and it split all the time. It would blow up with water and break loose and float all over my tank. I finally pulled it out of the tank because it was literally growing everywhere.

Here is another pic. They are pretty close looking. But the extensions of polyps makes me think more Kenya tree. And that’s what the LFS that I purchased it from said so too. I hope it doesn’t blow up.

Doing more research looks like Kenya tree also frags itself like what you described for leather. Will look out for it.

Purchase this from World Wide Corals. As you can see, it was filling up with fluid and then the parts would break off and float around my tank or get caught in my pumps. It was a nuisance coral. I had to get rid of it.

This is actually a great thing! Your coral is about to split off a baby! I have 4 growing in my tank right now....check often...when that bloated part is gone, find it in the tank....I attached mine to a small piece of rubble rock in a shot glass in the bottom of my tank. It took several weeks but now I have the babies on their rocks, waiting until I figure out what to do with them!

Mine looks exactly like that and it's a confirmed nepthea, btw....there is much confusion around these corals....
