My tank gets natural sunlight during part of the day, the difference it makes to the fish colours are amazing compared to the more blue hues we run tanks at.

Wow that natural sunlight really does bring out some insane color in your fish! That yellow one near the bottom looks so vibrant compared to the usual blue light setups. I’ve been thinking about how sunlight might affect coral too, especially the encrusting stuff on your live rock. Do you notice any difference in your corals’ growth or color when they catch that sun? Also curious how you manage the extra heat or algae that might come with natural light. I bet your tank feels way more alive with that mix of lighting. How long does the sunlight hit your tank each day? Would love to try

It only really hits that area of the tank and is diffused through a clear perspex shade and then window so it doesn't really cost the par much nor the heat. I do run the tank whiter now than I did and lighting comes on at 6am blue spectrum & ramps up to a whiter spectrum at 1pm runs like that till 6pm then ramps down till 11pm in a blue spectrum. I am seeing more algae than I did but I think thats down to n03 & p04 being high at the moment

That natural sunlight really brings out some awesome colors in your fish! I bet that yellow longnose butterflyfish looks totally different under your usual blue lighting. It’s fun to see how lighting changes the whole vibe of the tank!

It certainly does, I've changed the spectrum of my lighting maby 6 months ago to a more natural daytime with a blue ramp up and down

Nice! That blue ramp is like the fish's personal disco hour. Bet they’re loving that natural vibe way more than the
