ID: red/brown filament-like from base of candy cane on right bottom. It retracts when I try to grab it with tweezers. I've researched and can't seem to identify it?
Also, red spot on left likely scaring from LFS fragging it.?
Tank is 1 month old, coral is one week in tank. No other algae in tank, only 1 coral.

That right bottom “filament” looks a lot like aiptasia to me. I would use aiptadia x or joes juice (cheaper) to spray right into its mouth. Not sure what the red “scarring” is but can be coraline or algae.
Reddit agrees, 3x people say aptasia. Damnit.. lol. Will remove, scrape, peroxide and ftasia it then put back.
Def aiptasia
Yeah looks like aptasia
looks healthy! hope you ID it
Update: Struggled with F aptasia sticking. I stirred the crap out of it first. I put coral in a bucket with no flow and left it for hours. Pink did not turn white, kept sliding off when I picked it up. Resorted to using reef glue over the f aptasia to lock it in. I think I pretty much killed the coral, sigh, but the aptasia is gone. Fingers crossed it survives.
Don’t go too crazy. I learned quickly aptesia is part of reefing and try to treat concise and not have your coral go through hell. Using the aptesia x or joes juice works really well in this aspect. Happy reefing

Hey @alkatraz! That little red or brown filament sounds super familiar. In my tank I’ve seen similar things pop up around new frags especially LPS. If it retracts quickly when you go after it with tweezers it could be a tiny bristle worm or maybe even a little vermetid snail tube with its feeding string. Sometimes peanut worms do that too but they’re usually more tan or grey so not sure. I’d watch to see if it comes out at night or spreads anywhere else on the rock. With your tank being so new and just one coral in there things can still surprise you! I wouldn’t worry too much
