OK, I had this freshwater shrimp tank and I went out of town and my brother forgot to take care of it so the fusion I had left in there died which is super sad☹️☹️ it’s about five or 6 gallons. I was planning on using it for something else anyways so hear me out guys.

I have a 30 gallon tank which has two betas (female, and devided) (I had plans to make a sorority, but I don’t think ima do that,)

should I start a saltwater tank in the 6 gallon? Or the 30 gallon? Cause I can move my small beta to the 6 gallon and give my other one to another aquarium friend.

I’m going to sleep with camp and my aquarium friend is gonna take care of my tanks . But I think I should go ahead and start cycling one.

Can yall PLEEEASEEE give me good starter salt water fish/ creatures? For a small tank or a big one. I grew up doing maritime stuff and I’ve been keeping fish since I was little so I know everything there is to know about salinity and refractometer and all that. I’ve always wanted to keep a seahorse, but I’m really not sure if that a good first with saltwater

Definitely go with the 30 gallon, there is practically nothing that will fit or won’t outgrow a 6 gallon. Assuming you go with the 30 gallon, some easy fish include ocellaris/percula clownfish, bangai cardinals, blennies, goby/pistol shrimp pairs. Get a lid though because saltwater fish are quite the daredevils. Going with soft corals will be your easiest bet- no extra expense of dosing calcium. Easy clean up crew- DWARF blue/red legged hermit crabs (non dwarf will grow big and eat other snails and things) snails like nerite trochus and nassarius, fighting conch, tuxedo or pincushion urchin. These are some good starter livestock options to consider, but you should definitely start cycling when you have time to do the whole thing- it’s a very hands on process.
