Então, finalmente desisti e comprei alguns Hanna Checkers. Vivo e volto pro hobby desde o fim dos anos 80, e sempre confiei em testes por titulação, mas com meu sistema mais recente eu não consegui acertar os parâmetros. Testei um valor e a minha LFS testou um número bem diferente. Eu sei que esses kits variam bastante de fabricante pra fabricante e de usuário pra usuário, mas meus testes de um pra outro lado estavam uma bagunça. Eu sei que os testes da Hanna têm variações, mas pra mim e meus olhões, é bem mais fácil ler um display digital com número do que tentar diferenciar tons de rosa, azul e verde.
So, I finally broke down and bought some Hanna Checkers, I've been in and out of the hobby since the late 80s and have always relied on titration tests but with my latest system I have not been able to nail down my parameters, I tested one number and my LFS with my own test kit tested a wildly different number. I know these test kits vary wildly from manufacturer to manufacturer and from user to user but my own back to back tests were all over the place. I know Hanna tests have variations but for me and my old ass eyes it's much easier to read a digital number display than try to distinguish between shades of pink, blue and green.

Eu também tava tendo dificuldade no começo pra colocar o reagente no tubo. Acabei assistindo o procedimento oficial de teste no YouTube e o cara dobrou o sachê do reagente num triângulo e cortou a parte de cima. Isso cria uma dobra perfeita e eu não derramei reagente desde então. Vou ver se consigo postar um link aqui.
I was struggling with getting the reagent into the vial at first as well. I ended up watching the official testing procedure on YouTube and the guy folded the reagent packet into a triangle and cut the top off. It creates a perfect crease and I haven’t spilt the reagent since. I’ll see if I can post a link here

Eu também fiz o que você fez! Voltei pro hobby em janeiro e já pedi Hanna Checkers. Eu gosto da facilidade de uso, mas o jeito sugerido deles de colocar a mídia nos tubos pra testar é meio complicado: basicamente fazer um "funil" com o invólucro da mídia. Eu sugiro usar um funil de plástico pequeno, tipo aqueles de perfume, acho. Abre o pacote completamente e despeja passando pelo funil. A quantidade de pó/pedacinhos que eu acabei derrubando na lateral do tubo na mesa é absurda.
I also did what you did! Got back into the hobby January and immediately ordered Hanna Checkers. I do like the ease of use however, their suggested way of putting the media into the vials to test is rough, just making a "funnel" with the media wrapper. I suggest using a small plastic funnel, say like a perfume funnel I think. Open the wrapped completely and dispense it through the funnel. The amount of powder/particles I've dropped on the side of the vial onto the table is absurd.
Sim, concordo. Pra mim, pelo menos, exige um pouco de foco pra conseguir colocar o pó no tubo. Levei algumas tentativas antes de acertar e estabelecer uma base sólida pros meus números.
Yeah, agreed, it takes some focus, at least for me it does, to get the powder into the vial. It took me a few test runs before I got it and established a solid baseline for my numbers
Boa ideia sobre o funil. Eu tenho uma esposa e duas filhas morando aqui, então eu aposto que consigo achar alguma coisa em meio a todo aquele arsenal de embelezamento delas que vai funcionar direitinho.
That's a good idea about the funnel, I got a wife and daughters in the house, I bet I can find something amongst all their beautification gear that will work just right
