Acabo de comprar este acuario de 120 galones que viene con todo. Voy a usar mi luz coral blade y usar la roca y la arena viejas. ¿Cuántos galones son y con qué frecuencia debería hacer cambios de agua? Cualquier recomendación o idea sería genial. Pasar de un acuario de 40g a este es un gran cambio para mí
Just bought this 120 gallon tank comes with everything. Going to use my coral blade light and use the old rock and sand. How many gallons and how often should I do water changes on it? Any recommendations or ideas would be great. Going from a 40g to this is a big change for me

Tengo un sistema de 160g. Hago un cambio de agua de unos 20g cada 2 semanas. La frecuencia puede depender de tus nitratos y fosfato, si suben demasiado y necesitas bajarlos haré uno cada semana. Incluso he pasado varios meses sin hacer un cambio pero entonces me doy cuenta de que el acuario empieza a verse mal.
I’ve got a 160g system. I do about 20g water change every 2 weeks. How often can depend on your nitrates and phosphate if getting way too high and need to lower them I’ll do once a week. I’ve even gone several months without a change but then I notice the tank starts to look bad.

Con la misma arena y roca probablemente ya esté ciclado. Honestamente, comencé mi acuario de 120g y puse peces payaso el día 3. El volumen de agua es tan grande que tu amoníaco no subirá mucho. Además añadir algo de bacteria beneficiosa turbo start siempre es bueno. Aunque me llevó unos 4 meses lograr que los corales crecieran con éxito. Maté un montón al principio. ¡Solo asegúrate de que tus parámetros sean estables y no compres demasiado de una vez!
With same sand and rock it’s probably already cycled. Honestly I started my 120g tank and put clownfish in on day 3. The water volume is so large that your ammonia won’t get that high. Also adding some turbo start beneficial bacteria is always good. Though it took me about 4 months to successfully grow coral. I killed a bunch at first. Just make sure your parameters are stable and don’t buy too much at once!

Ah perdona, me perdí la parte donde estás haciendo una mejora. Sí, puedes mover todo al nuevo acuario sin preocupaciones siempre que tengas tu roca viva estarás bien. En mi caso era mi primer acuario de agua salada jamás. La gente no recomienda transferir arena ya que puede ser una bomba de nitratos cuando revuelves todos los escombros atrapados. O bien la limpias realmente bien o simplemente compra arena nueva.
Oh sorry missed the part where you are upgrading. Yeah you can move everything to the new tank no worries as long as you have your live rock you are golden. In my case it was my first saltwater tank ever. People don’t recommend transferring sand as it can be a nitrate bomb when you stir up all the trapped debris. I’d either clean it really well or just buy new sand.

Hace poco hice una transferencia de acuario y simplemente lavé mi arena con agua del grifo de mi manguera y luego la dejé secar un par de días. Llené medio llenos 5 cubos de 5g con arena y metí la manguera en el cubo y dejé que toda la suciedad saliera. Tardó bastante pero funcionó bien. Necesitarás mucha agua así que creo que la manguera está bien 🤷♂️
I recently did a tank transfer and just washed my sand with tap water from my hose and then let it dry out for a couple days. I half filled 5g buckets with sand and the stuck the hose in the bucket and let all the nastyness come out. Kinda took a while but worked well. You’ll need a lot of water so I think the hose is fine 🤷♂️

Siempre es triste cuando una LFS cierra. ¡Mantennos actualizados sobre tu nuevo acuario! No me puedo imaginar tener un acuario de 120 galones. No me veo a mí mismo hacerlo a menos que pueda automatizar los cambios de agua.
Always sad with LFS goes out of business. Keep us updated on your new tank! Can’t imagine having 120 gallon tank. I can’t see myself do it unless I can automate water change.

¡Felicidades por la mejora! Ese salto de 40g a 120g es muy bueno. Me encanta ver roca viva ya en el acuario. Te da una base excelente para biofiltración y bacterias. Me gustaría saber si planeas reutilizar la arena vieja o empezar de nuevo. Cuando monté mi acuario más grande enjuagué mi arena como loco para evitar picos de nutrientes. Para cambios de agua normalmente me mantengo en un 10 a 20 por ciento cada semana o dos pero honestamente mucho depende de tu ganado y cuánto alimentes. Si estás corriendo principalmente peces por ahora probablemente podrías arreglártelas con un poco menos pero una vez que te metas en corales
Congrats on the upgrade! That 120g is a sweet jump from a 40g. I love seeing live rock in there already. It gives you such a good foundation for bio filtration and bacteria. I’d be curious to know if you plan to reuse the old sand or start fresh. When I set up my bigger tank I rinsed my old sand like crazy to avoid any nutrient spikes. For water changes I usually stick to 10 to 20 percent every week or two but honestly a lot depends on your livestock and how much you feed. If you’re running mostly fish for now you could probably get away with a little less but once you get into corals

Yeah I’d totally rinse it with RO water first! It helps get rid of any old gunk and keeps your new setup
