Vale, así que tenía un acuario antiguo de 29 galones en el garaje y la verdad es que no me gusta mucho el montaje actual con el sump. Así que decidí montarme el mío. Compré todo el material y ahora solo estoy planificando. Quiero meter tanto el skimmer como un refugio, porque tengo un mandarina y quiero tener un buen “stock” de copépodos. ¿Este montaje os parece bien? En el futuro, me gustaría simplemente quitar los calcetines y hacer quizá un 30 luego 40 y luego 50 ppi (a lo mejor más si existe). Así no tengo que preocuparme por cambiar los calcetines cada 2-3 días.
Parecía que cortaba la pieza original, así que voy a publicar ambos lados de eso para asegurarme.
Okay so I had an old 29 gallon in the garage and I really don’t like my current set up with my sump. So I decided to build my own. I bought all the stuff and I’m just planning now. I want to fit both the skimmer and a refugium because I have a mandarin and want a good copepod surplus. Does this set up look ok? I’m hoping that in the future I might just take the socks out and do maybe a 30 then 40 then 50 ppi(maybe more if they have that). Just so I don’t have to worry about replacing socks every 2-3 days.
It looked like it cut off the original so I’m going to post both sides of it to be safe

¿Compraste un kit de bafles? ¿O estás cortando piezas de acrílico a medida para las secciones del sump?
Is this a baffle kit you bought? Or are you cutting custom acrylic pieces for the sump sections?

Vale, genial. Yo compré un kit y te enseño cómo lo tengo montado. El sump y el refugio tienen agujeros entre medio (azul oscuro) para que el nivel del agua sea el mismo (azul claro). Y luego de refugio a la bomba de retorno está al revés de lo que tienes tú. Y hay bio blocks y filtración mecánica. La parte que más me gusta del kit es la pieza de acrílico con altura ajustable (rosa), para que puedas ajustar manualmente la altura del agua en la cámara del skimmer/refugio. La presión del agua básicamente mantiene la pieza rosa pegada a la roja. Ojalá esto tenga sentido, jajaja. No sé si hay una forma correcta o incorrecta de hacer un sump. Solo quería darte más ideas.
Ok cool. So I bought a kit and I’ll show you how mine is set up. The sump and refugium have holes in between ( dark blue ) so the water line is the same (light blue). And then from refugium to return pump it’s flipped from what you have. And there is bio blocks and mechanical filtration. My favorite part of the kit is an adjustable height acrylic piece (pink) so you can manually adjust the water height for the skimmer/refugium chamber. The water pressure basically will hold the pink piece against the red. Hopefully that makes any sense hah. Idk if there is a right or wrong way to do a sump. Just wanted to give you more ideas

¡Sí, buena idea! Por eso lo publiqué, jaja. Nunca hice uno ni he visto uno realmente bueno. He intentado buscar algunos, pero son todos tan diferentes que me fui con lo que a mí me pareció que quedaba bien. Pero tiene mucho sentido.
Yeah that’s a good idea! That’s why I posted lol never made one or really even seen a good one. I’ve tried to look up some but they’re all so different so I just went with what I thought looked right. But that makes a lot of sense.

Además, ¿tú crees que la bajada de 2-3 pulgadas desde la sección de bio media hasta el skimmer sería ruidosa como dijo SFreeefer? Si es así, ¿se te ocurre alguna idea para mantener el uso de la esponja?
Also do you think the 2-3 inch drop from the bio media section to the skimmer would be loud like SFReefer said? If so do you have any ideas to keep the sponge in use?

Sí, estoy de acuerdo con SFreefer. No hace falta ni aporta nada esa parte roja.
Yeah I agree with SFreefer. Theres no need or benefit for that red area.

Bueno, el motivo de tenerla tan alta era para que el nivel en la primera cámara estuviera más alto. Menos sonido viniendo de los calcetines (filter socks).
Well the reason I had it that high was so that the level in the first chamber was higher. Less sound coming from the filter socks

Mi tubo de overflow se mete por debajo del agua y luego desborda hacia el sump.
My overflow pipe goes under the water then over flows into the sump

The skimmer will also be much larger, it’ll be sticking out of the top of the tank but I can’t draw that haha
