¡Hombre, es que el Yellowtail Tang (Dory) se ve absolutamente impresionante! Me encanta lo vibrante que queda ese coral blando verde con tu iluminación. Es una locura pensar en cuánto pueden crecer estos peces y hacerse más duros con todos los altibajos como el ich y las infecciones por hongos. ¡Hace falta una dedicación seria para que sigan así y prosperen durante 8 años! ¿Cómo gestionas el flujo alrededor de esos corales más blandos? He estado intentando encontrar el punto ideal en mi acuario para mantener contentos a los softies sin estresar a mis tangs. Y también me da curiosidad: ¿añades algún suplemento para esos colores tan vivos o solo dejas que tu química del agua haga lo suyo?
Man, that Yellowtail Tang looks absolutely stunning! I love how vibrant that green soft coral pops under your lighting too. It’s crazy thinking about how much these fish can grow and toughen up with all the ups and downs like ich and fungal infections. Takes some serious dedication to keep them thriving like that over 8 years! How do you manage flow around those softer corals? I’ve been trying to find the sweet spot in my tank to keep softies happy without stressing out my tangs. Also curious if you dose any supplements for those bright colors or just let your water chemistry do its thing

¡Gracias! La verdad es que he tenido suerte de mantenerlo tan sano con todos los altibajos a lo largo de los años. En cuanto al flujo, sinceramente me costó años encontrar el punto ideal. Y aunque ahora mismo, cada vez que un coral crece, tengo que hacer ajustes. Ahora estoy usando dos DMP 40s, uno a cada lado del acuario, colocados más arriba para romper bien la superficie y crear un flujo turbulento fuerte para los SPS. Eso deja algunas zonas de flujo medio a bajo hacia la parte de abajo, donde coloco ciertos acros y otros corales de flujo más bajo. Para el color, estoy usando Reef Moonshiners y también dosifico Aquavitro Fuel. Creo que la estabilidad con el paso del tiempo es lo que más influye, aunque.
Thank you! I’ve definitely been lucky to keep him this healthy with all the ups and downs over the years. As for flow, it honestly took me years to find the sweet spot. And even now, every time a coral grows out, I have to make adjustments. Right now I’m running two DMP 40s, one on each side of the tank, positioned higher up to really break the surface and create strong turbulent flow for the SPS. That leaves some medium to lower flow areas toward the bottom where I place certain acros and other lower flow corals. For color, I’m running Reef Moonshiners and I also dose Aquavitro Fuel. I think stability over time plays the biggest role though.
