¡Empieza a parecer un acuario de arrecife de verdad! ¿Cuándo tengo que empezar a usar el skimmer? No lo tuve encendido durante el ciclo y he ido añadiendo peces y corales poco a poco durante las últimas 3-4 semanas. Actualmente tengo 5 peces pequeños, 6 camarones (4 peppermints), 10 caracoles más o menos y 7 corales (mayoría zoas, 1 anémona). ¿Qué señales me dirán que tengo que encenderlo? Es bastante ruidoso así que intento averiguar si puedo ponerlo en un temporizador para que solo funcione por la noche.
Staring to feel like a real reef tank! When do I need to start running the skimmer? I didn’t have it on through the cycle and have been gradually adding fish and coral over the last 3-4 weeks. Currently have 5 small fish, 6 shrimp (4 peppermints), 10ish snails and 7 corals (mostly zoa’s, 1 nem). What signs will tell me I need to turn it on? It’s quite loud so trying to work out if I can have it on a timer to only go at night.

¡Ese Blastomussa con los centros verdes está alucinante! Yo diría que estés atento a los niveles de nutrientes y quizás usa el skimmer por la noche como planeabas para reducir ruido pero mantener la calidad del agua en línea.
That Blastomussa with the green centers is really popping! I’d say keep an eye on your nutrient levels and maybe run the skimmer at night like you planned to cut down on noise but still keep water quality in check.

Una vez que tus nitratos/fosfatos estén demasiado altos para controlar es cuando necesitarás un skimmer. Si están en un rango ok solo haciendo cambios de agua no necesitas encenderlo. Creo que no necesité uno para mi acuario hasta al menos un año.
Once your nitrates/phosphates are too high too manage that’s when you’ll need a skimmer. If they are in an ok range by just doing water changes you don’t need to turn it on. I don’t think I started needing one for my tank until at least a year.
