Description
A small, deep-water dartfish with a lavender-to-violet body, bright yellow head, and a tall first dorsal fin it flicks while hovering just above the reef. It is peaceful and completely reef safe, hovering in the water column to pick zooplankton from the current, and does best in a quiet tank with plenty of rockwork and a bolt hole; it may squabble with conspecifics unless kept as a bonded pair. Because it darts for cover and readily jumps, a tight-fitting lid and non-aggressive tankmates are essential, and frequent small feedings of enriched frozen foods keep this expensive, slow-eating fish in condition.

The Helfrichi Goby requires a well-established aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and a sandy substrate for burrowing. It prefers a dimly lit tank with moderate to strong water movement.
Behavior
This fish is known to be peaceful and shy. It prefers to hover near the bottom of the tank, darting into burrows or crevices when threatened. It is best kept in pairs or small groups, as it can be territorial with other species.

Love my helfrichi! BEWARE they are jumpers. Will find any escape route. Other than that they are great fish. Fun to watch. Giving 4 stars and moderate care only because of their tendency to jump and need a very secure lid.
