Description
The Heniochus Butterflyfish, commonly known as the Longfin Bannerfish or the Pennant Coralfish, is a popular fish in the marine aquarium hobby. It is known for its striking black, white, and yellow coloration and its elongated dorsal fin, which gives it a banner-like appearance.
Reef Safe?
No. The Heniochus Butterflyfish is not considered reef safe as it will eat coral polyps and can damage coral reefs.
Environment
The Heniochus Butterflyfish prefers a well-lit tank with plenty of open swimming space. It also needs plenty of hiding spots among live rock or other aquarium decorations, where it can retreat when it feels threatened. This fish prefers a water temperature between 72 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit.
Behavior
The Heniochus Butterflyfish is generally peaceful but can be territorial with other butterflyfish. It is a schooling fish, so it prefers to be kept in groups of its own kind. It is active during the day and will spend much of its time swimming in the open.
