Description
The Red Coris Wrasse, also known as the Clown Wrasse or Red Labrid, is a vibrant and active saltwater fish that is popular among aquarists for its striking coloration and dynamic behavior. It is known for its distinctive color change as it matures from juvenile to adult.
Reef Safe?
No. The Red Coris Wrasse is not considered reef safe as it tends to eat small invertebrates and can disturb corals while burrowing.
Environment
The Red Coris Wrasse prefers a tank with plenty of open swimming space but also requires a thick sandy substrate for burrowing. A well-sealed lid is necessary to prevent them from jumping out.
Behavior
The Red Coris Wrasse is a very active swimmer and is known for its habit of burrowing into the sand when it sleeps or feels threatened. It is generally peaceful with other species but can be aggressive towards other wrasses.

Great utility fish! This is the second one I’ve had and both have been model citizens. Keeps around the center/bottom of the water column, swimming in and out of the rock. Stays busy hunting for pests, doesn’t harm any of the corals and hasn’t shown any signs of aggression.
