J’ai acheté ce bac de 120 gallons, il y a tout avec. Je vais utiliser ma lampe Coral Blade et réutiliser l’ancien sable et les anciennes pierres. Vous me conseillez de faire combien de gallons et à quelle fréquence pour les changements d’eau ? Des recommandations ou des idées seraient super. Je passe de mon 40g à ça, c’est un gros changement pour moi
Just bought this 120 gallon tank comes with everything. Going to use my coral blade light and use the old rock and sand. How many gallons and how often should I do water changes on it? Any recommendations or ideas would be great. Going from a 40g to this is a big change for me

J’ai un système de 160g. Je fais environ 20g de changement d’eau toutes les 2 semaines. La fréquence dépend de tes nitrates et phosphates : si ça monte trop et qu’il faut les baisser, je le fais une fois par semaine. J’ai même pu faire plusieurs mois sans en faire, mais à un moment je remarque que le bac commence à avoir l’air bof.
I’ve got a 160g system. I do about 20g water change every 2 weeks. How often can depend on your nitrates and phosphate if getting way too high and need to lower them I’ll do once a week. I’ve even gone several months without a change but then I notice the tank starts to look bad.

Avec le même sable et les mêmes pierres, c’est probablement déjà cyclé. Honnêtement, j’ai lancé mon 120g et j’ai mis des poissons clown au jour 3. Le volume d’eau est tellement grand que ton ammoniaque ne va pas monter autant. Et ajouter un peu de Turbo Start pour bactéries bénéfiques, c’est toujours utile. Après, il m’a fallu environ 4 mois pour réussir à faire pousser des coraux. J’en ai tué pas mal au début. Juste fais en sorte que tes paramètres soient stables et n’achète pas trop d’un coup !
With same sand and rock it’s probably already cycled. Honestly I started my 120g tank and put clownfish in on day 3. The water volume is so large that your ammonia won’t get that high. Also adding some turbo start beneficial bacteria is always good. Though it took me about 4 months to successfully grow coral. I killed a bunch at first. Just make sure your parameters are stable and don’t buy too much at once!

Oh désolé, j’ai raté le passage où tu fais une upgrade. Oui, tu peux tout transférer dans le nouveau bac sans souci tant que tu as tes pierres vivantes, t’es tranquille. Dans mon cas, c’était mon tout premier bac récifal. Les gens ne recommandent pas de transférer le sable : quand tu le remues, ça peut devenir une bombe à nitrates à cause des débris piégés. Soit tu le nettoies vraiment bien, soit tu prends directement du nouveau sable.
Oh sorry missed the part where you are upgrading. Yeah you can move everything to the new tank no worries as long as you have your live rock you are golden. In my case it was my first saltwater tank ever. People don’t recommend transferring sand as it can be a nitrate bomb when you stir up all the trapped debris. I’d either clean it really well or just buy new sand.

J’ai fait un tank transfer récemment et j’ai juste rincé mon sable avec de l’eau du robinet de mon tuyau, puis je l’ai laissé sécher pendant deux jours. J’ai rempli à moitié des seaux de 5g avec du sable, j’ai mis le tuyau dedans et j’ai laissé toute la crasse sortir. Ça a pris un moment, mais ça a bien marché. Tu vas avoir besoin de beaucoup d’eau, donc je pense que le tuyau c’est parfait 🤷♂️
I recently did a tank transfer and just washed my sand with tap water from my hose and then let it dry out for a couple days. I half filled 5g buckets with sand and the stuck the hose in the bucket and let all the nastyness come out. Kinda took a while but worked well. You’ll need a lot of water so I think the hose is fine 🤷♂️

C’est toujours triste quand un LFS ferme. Tenez-nous au courant pour ton nouveau bac ! J’arrive pas à me dire que je pourrais faire un 120 gallon. Je me vois pas le faire à moins de pouvoir automatiser les changements d’eau.
Always sad with LFS goes out of business. Keep us updated on your new tank! Can’t imagine having 120 gallon tank. I can’t see myself do it unless I can automate water change.

Félicitations pour l’upgrade ! Ce 120g, c’est un sacré saut depuis un 40g. J’adore voir les pierres vivantes dedans direct. Ça te donne une super base pour la filtration biologique et les bactéries. Je serais curieux de savoir si tu comptes réutiliser le vieux sable ou repartir à zéro. Quand j’ai monté mon bac plus grand, j’ai rincé mon ancien sable à fond pour éviter des pics de nutriments. Pour les changements d’eau, je m’en tiens généralement à 10 à 20 % chaque semaine ou toutes les deux semaines, mais honnêtement ça dépend beaucoup de tes pensionnaires et de la quantité que tu nourris. Si pour l’instant tu fais surtout poissons, tu peux probablement faire un peu moins, mais une fois que tu passes aux coraux…
Congrats on the upgrade! That 120g is a sweet jump from a 40g. I love seeing live rock in there already. It gives you such a good foundation for bio filtration and bacteria. I’d be curious to know if you plan to reuse the old sand or start fresh. When I set up my bigger tank I rinsed my old sand like crazy to avoid any nutrient spikes. For water changes I usually stick to 10 to 20 percent every week or two but honestly a lot depends on your livestock and how much you feed. If you’re running mostly fish for now you could probably get away with a little less but once you get into corals

Je pensais utiliser le sable d’origine qui est déjà dans le bac. Tu me conseilles de le nettoyer d’abord avec de l’eau RO ?
I did plan on using the original sand that is in the tank already. Do you suggest cleaning it out with ro water first?

Ouais je te dirais carrément de le rincer avec de l’eau RO d’abord ! Ça aide à enlever toute la vieille crasse et ça garde ton nouveau setup plus clean
Yeah I’d totally rinse it with RO water first! It helps get rid of any old gunk and keeps your new setup
