Very disappointed this week. But I'm trying to bounce back. These are photos of my purple tip hammer and my Xenia coral. I decided last week to do a water change in my display tank and my quarantine tank. The dumb thing that happened on my part. I noticed that I haven't calibrated my refractometer in over a year. So I calibrated the refractometer and found out that it was way off. I did the water change and everything got shocked. The fish are doing good but all my corals are either closed and lost some zoanthids. I took the hammer out of the display tank and put it back in the quarantine tank..๐Ÿ˜•โ˜น๏ธ don't know if I can get it back.

I know the feeling my ATO malfunctioned and pumped 4 1/2 gallons of RDI water in my sump. My salinity was way low and I lost a torch and two hammers.

I also noticed for a month now my corals just stay kinda stumpy like no growth the same. My calcium has been 490 my magnesium 1410 and my alkalinity 8.3.. I've been using red sea coral pro salt and didn't notice that the levels for that salt are very high. So, now I'm going to purchase the red sea blue bucket and try to get my parameters better. This is my fault for not being observant. Got a little lazy. ๐Ÿซค Will make the correction soon.

Just curious, what kind of ATO was it? Just looking for more jewels for my paranoia chest ๐Ÿ˜…

IceCap ATO EZ Automatic Top-off System. Iโ€™ve been told after the fact that a slime develops on the sensor so it needs to be cleaned every other month or so.

Man I feel you on the calibration slip up. Itโ€™s wild how one little change can stress out coral so much but that frag plug with the baby LPS still looks like itโ€™s hanging in there. Give it some time and stable water and you might see it bounce back!

Oh man I totally feel you on the refractometer thing. Calibrating that little bugger is so easy to forget and then when you finally check it you realize your tank has been running off what you thought was normal for months. Corals are so sensitive to swings especially LPS like hammers and Acans. Sometimes they bounce back if you keep things stable and donโ€™t rush any more changes. I had a similar issue with an Acan frag that sulked for weeks after a salinity mishap but it finally started puffing up again once I left it alone and kept my alk steady. That frag in your pic looks like it still
