Okay so my phosphate has always been running about 0.2. this seems to be regarded as a little high but I’ve not had problems so far. I went to LFS to get GFO to bring it down and they told me it’s fine, because I’m only doing softies and LPS.
at the risk of getting a bunch of different opinions, what am I to think when the value is out of ideal range on paper but the experts are telling me it’s fine?

If your tank looks happy I’d chill
My phosphates have been .1-.3 basically the entire time I’ve had my tank; a lot of the easier corals like slightly dirty water anyways. For corals it’s more important to have stability than anything; once your tank finds an equilibrium just try to maintain that as opposed to hitting set numbers on parameters
that’s exactly what the store guy said, my softies and LPS prefer “dirty water”. I just can’t help but wonder that although my corals are doing fine, could they be thriving better? but my reef mentor told me to not chase numbers so I’ll leave it be.

My phosphate is at .26 and coral are growing well. The higher nitrate and phosphate you just run the risk of strong algae out breaks. As long as you have a good CUC your tank should be great. If your tank looks good no need to make changes for now. Water changes are always good solution for bringing down nitrate and phosphate too
thanks man. really appreciate your interactions. I’ve avoided two major algae ugly phases so I’ll leave it be.
