Day #7 🐠🔥
Unexpected update… the Flowerhorn is arriving EARLIER than expected tomorrow 😅📦🐟
The tank is still in the middle of the nitrogen cycle, but we’re seeing solid progress every day 👨🏻🔬
Current parameters:
• Ammonia: ~0.25 ppm
• Nitrite: ~1.0–2.0 ppm
• Nitrate: 5–10+ ppm
• pH: 7.6
✅ Crystal clear water
✅ Nitrites processing
✅ Nitrates increasing
✅ Heavy aeration & filtration running 24/7
✅ Pothos added for natural nitrate absorption 🌱
✅ Beneficial bacteria growing fast
At this point the tank is officially alive — now waiting for the nitrite spike to crash before full stabilization 💪
The Flowerhorn lands tomorrow morning before noon 👑🐠
So now it’s crunch time 😅
Time to change water
Update- Firefish went in first, Bengaii and Pink Wrasse 2 weeks later due to stocking availability. All doing well so far. Update on Week 11-12 coming soon as that was my first panic disaster week!
Week 7-10 was more learning. First time drip acclimating a fish! Understanding consumption, local LFS mixed feedback and getting rid of diatoms. Hermits are not friends- one is enough. More than one is a bad idea! Shrimp are not to be feared if you acclimate properly and when you add pods make sure skimmers and wavemakers are off! 10 weeks in, 1 fish and a few corals. Definitely learning a lot!
Thoughts on this hammer. Tank has go through the wringer this past week with a cyano outbreak, velvet killing all fish and 30% water change trying to get ammonia down. Dosing prime but still around .28. Not sure what else to do!!
Talk about a heartbreak…. It’s been a couple months since I’ve made a post so hello again everyone! My and my wife bought a house and during the move we had to move 5, 90 gallon reef tanks. This is the before and after of my prize tank. I lost 90% of my corals. The first couple months after I almost gave up walked away this is all I have left. Thanks to a few people in the community we are SLOWLY coming back to life. When it gets tough do not give up!
Setup rating?
How much would u guys give in a total of 10?
(That one coral on the highest is birdnest sps coral)
(Btw, any suggestion to improve my tank based on the parameters and equipment I updated today?)
Epik parameter
No3 = 50
No2 = 1
Cl² = 0
KH = 7~9
Ph = 8.4
Cycling my new tank - I find the waiting the hardest. Nitrites are 0,5ppm and Nitrates are 5ppm.
I still need to get my lights and I’m having a hard time deciding.

Day #6 🐠🔥
The Flowerhorn tank is officially entering the nitrite spike phase of the nitrogen cycle 🔬
Current parameters:
• Ammonia: 0.25 ppm
• Nitrite: 1.0 ppm
• Nitrate: 0.50+ ppm
• pH: 7.6
Good signs:
✅ Beneficial bacteria growing
✅ Ammonia dropping
✅ Nitrates appearing
✅ Crystal clear water
✅ Heavy filtration & oxygenation running 24/7
Now we wait for the nitrites to fall and the ecosystem to stabilize before the Flowerhorn arrives 👑🐟
Slow process… but worth doing right 💯

Guys I need some help on where I should put my corals I’m not the best at placement and I need to make sure these places will be comfortable for my corals . Current setup and I think it’s suitable LMk (I know bubble coral is stressed and deflated I’m currently working on to help it inflate)
My first set up newbie…. Currently finishing up the cycling process
pH: 8.0–8.2
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0–0.25 ppm
Nitrate: 0–5 ppm
