Copperband attempt… again.
A few days ago I bought a Copperband Butterflyfish, a fish I’ve always loved but never had long-term success with. Either they stop eating or slowly fade away.
At the store he was already eating brine shrimp, which gave me some confidence.
Right now he’s in an acclimation box inside my display so he can observe the tank before release.
My biggest concern besides feeding is aggression from my tangs:
• Purple Tang
• Blue Eye Bristletooth Tang
I’ve been researching the clam on the half shell method for feeding and also the mirror trick to distract the tangs when I release him.
Let’s see how this one goes. I’ll document the journey.
Anyone here successfully kept a Copperband long term?
Hey guys need some help. I got this RFA a couple weeks back at Reefing USA NY. WhenI added it to the tank, I put it with my other 5 RFA and it was doing fine and moving around trying to find a comfy spot Im guessing. Well I found it under one of my other larger RFA after not being able to find it for a couple days. Does it look okay? Is it going to be okay? I currently have it in a little floating container to just keep an eye on it
Can anyone tell me what marine parasite this is killed all my fish and just got new ones and killed them in the first 5 hours. I tried a freshwater bath it helped for a little then they went back to the floor. Please help
how do i rehome some potentially ill animals. i cant keep them anymore and i cant really even do this hobby anymore
and also im looking for suggestions. im of course somewhat new and have made alot of mistakes but at this point i think i may just want to give/sell my reef animals as they arent doing well i believe
what should i do
Hey i know this app is strictly reef tank based but is there anyone who wants some fresh water fish i cant exactly/havent been able to take care of very well who lives in the central florida area
fish are
pearl gourami x1
xray tetras x2
kuhli loachs x2-3 (cant actually tell how many there are)
pepper corydoras x4 (two babies)
bristlenose pleco x1
the corydoras and pleco are in pretty bad shape unfortunately and i really need someone to take care of them because i need to divert all my attention to my reef tank which is currently still failing despite everything (atp if any more of my fish die i may offer up all my animals and get a peacock mantis shrimp or something eventually instead)

Added a Royal Gramma on Saturday and he seemed to be doing great. Was out and eating. Yesterday he didn’t come out at all except very quickly when I fed the tank. I have not seen him at all today even when I fed the tank. Normal behavior or do I have a problem? I only have 2 small clowns in the tank and they never seemed bothered by him. Any thoughts?
HELP! You can’t see it to well but he’s stomach is ruptured, all parameters are stable. Don’t know what happened, but he got bloated and today I came home and his stomach was almost like popped 😬😩
I never heard anyone putting an anemone guard for a coral banded shrimp! Welp we all find out sooner than later R.I.P Lameir. Days in tank 2 😱
Has anyone had to deal with pop eye?
I have a few questions, can it spread to other fish in qt, what do you do to treat it?
Hey guys. Should I still be feeding my tank although my clownfish died? Obv I would do way less amount wise but idk
What’s on my clownfish?!?! This appeared over night I did a 1 minute freshwater dip but nothing changed.
