Habe mir gerade dieses 120-Gallonen-Becken gekauft, kommt mit allem. Werde mein Coral Blade Light nutzen und das alte Gestein und Sand verwenden. Wie viele Gallonen und wie oft sollte ich Wasserwechsel machen? Irgendwelche Empfehlungen oder Ideen wären super. Von 40g auf das hier zu wechseln ist eine große Veränderung für mich
Just bought this 120 gallon tank comes with everything. Going to use my coral blade light and use the old rock and sand. How many gallons and how often should I do water changes on it? Any recommendations or ideas would be great. Going from a 40g to this is a big change for me

Ich habe ein 160g System. Ich mache etwa 20g Wasserwechsel alle 2 Wochen. Wie oft hängt von deinen Nitraten und Phosphaten ab – wenn die viel zu hoch werden und ich sie senken muss, mache ich es einmal pro Woche. Ich bin sogar mehrere Monate ohne Wasserwechsel ausgekommen, aber dann habe ich bemerkt, dass das Becken anfängt, schlecht auszusehen.
I’ve got a 160g system. I do about 20g water change every 2 weeks. How often can depend on your nitrates and phosphate if getting way too high and need to lower them I’ll do once a week. I’ve even gone several months without a change but then I notice the tank starts to look bad.

Mit demselben Sand und Gestein ist es wahrscheinlich bereits durchlaufen. Ehrlich gesagt habe ich mein 120g Becken gestartet und am 3. Tag Clownfische reingetan. Das Wasservolumen ist so groß, dass dein Ammonia nicht so hoch wird. Ein bisschen Turbo Start mit nützlichen Bakterien ist immer gut. Allerdings hat es mich etwa 4 Monate gedauert, bis ich Korallen erfolgreich züchten konnte. Ich habe am Anfang eine Menge getötet. Stell einfach sicher, dass deine Wasserwerte stabil sind und kauf nicht zu viel auf einmal!
With same sand and rock it’s probably already cycled. Honestly I started my 120g tank and put clownfish in on day 3. The water volume is so large that your ammonia won’t get that high. Also adding some turbo start beneficial bacteria is always good. Though it took me about 4 months to successfully grow coral. I killed a bunch at first. Just make sure your parameters are stable and don’t buy too much at once!

Großartig, sehr hilfreich. Du empfiehlst also nicht, ein paar meiner Weichkorallen wie GSP und Zoas eine Zeit lang ins Becken zu überführen?

Ah, entschuldige, ich habe verpasst, dass du upgraadest. Ja, du kannst alles ins neue Becken umziehen, kein Problem, solange du dein Live Rock hast bist du golden. In meinem Fall war es mein erstes Salzwasserbecken überhaupt. Leute empfehlen nicht, Sand zu transferieren, da er eine Nitratbombe sein kann, wenn du all den eingelagerten Schmutz aufwirbelst. Ich würde ihn entweder wirklich gut reinigen oder einfach neuen Sand kaufen.
Oh sorry missed the part where you are upgrading. Yeah you can move everything to the new tank no worries as long as you have your live rock you are golden. In my case it was my first saltwater tank ever. People don’t recommend transferring sand as it can be a nitrate bomb when you stir up all the trapped debris. I’d either clean it really well or just buy new sand.

Ich habe kürzlich einen Beckenwechsel gemacht und habe meinen Sand einfach mit Leitungswasser aus meinem Schlauch gewaschen und dann ein paar Tage trocknen lassen. Ich habe 5G Eimer zur Hälfte mit Sand gefüllt und den Schlauch reingesteckt und all den Dreck rauslaufen lassen. Hat eine Weile gedauert, aber funktioniert gut. Du brauchst viel Wasser, deshalb denke ich, der Schlauch ist ok 🤷♂️
I recently did a tank transfer and just washed my sand with tap water from my hose and then let it dry out for a couple days. I half filled 5g buckets with sand and the stuck the hose in the bucket and let all the nastyness come out. Kinda took a while but worked well. You’ll need a lot of water so I think the hose is fine 🤷♂️

Immer traurig, wenn ein LFS in den Konkurs geht. Halte uns auf dem Laufenden zu deinem neuen Becken! Kann mir nicht vorstellen, ein 120-Gallonen-Becken zu haben. Ich könnte mir das nur vorstellen, wenn ich Wasserwechsel automatisieren könnte.
Always sad with LFS goes out of business. Keep us updated on your new tank! Can’t imagine having 120 gallon tank. I can’t see myself do it unless I can automate water change.

Glückwunsch zum Upgrade! Das 120g Becken ist ein großer Sprung von 40g. Ich liebe das Live Rock, das schon darin ist. Es gibt dir eine so gute Grundlage für Biofiltration und Bakterien. Ich würde gerne wissen, ob du den alten Sand wiederverwenden oder neu anfangen möchtest. Beim Setup meines größeren Beckens habe ich meinen alten Sand wie verrückt gespült, um Nährstoffspitzen zu vermeiden. Bei Wasserwechseln halte ich mich normalerweise an 10 bis 20 Prozent pro Woche oder zwei, aber ehrlich gesagt hängt viel von deinem Besatz und wie viel du fütterst ab. Wenn du jetzt hauptsächlich Fische hast, könntest du wahrscheinlich mit etwas weniger auskommen, aber sobald du in Korallen gehst
Congrats on the upgrade! That 120g is a sweet jump from a 40g. I love seeing live rock in there already. It gives you such a good foundation for bio filtration and bacteria. I’d be curious to know if you plan to reuse the old sand or start fresh. When I set up my bigger tank I rinsed my old sand like crazy to avoid any nutrient spikes. For water changes I usually stick to 10 to 20 percent every week or two but honestly a lot depends on your livestock and how much you feed. If you’re running mostly fish for now you could probably get away with a little less but once you get into corals

I did plan on using the original sand that is in the tank already. Do you suggest cleaning it out with ro water first?

Yeah I’d totally rinse it with RO water first! It helps get rid of any old gunk and keeps your new setup
