Description

The Convict Tang is a popular saltwater fish known for its striking appearance. It has a disc-shaped body with bold black stripes running vertically down its body, similar to the uniform of a convict, hence the name. They are active swimmers and are often seen darting around in the water.

Reef Safe

Yes, Convict Tangs are considered reef safe but may nip at large-polyped stony corals and clam mantles.

Environment

Convict Tangs thrive in a well-lit aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. They prefer a strong current and high-quality water conditions.

Behavior

Convict Tangs are active and social fish. They are known to be peaceful but can become territorial and aggressive if the tank is too small or overcrowded. They are also known to be jumpers, so a well-fitted tank lid is necessary.
