How do I keep track of the fish and coral in my reef tank?

How do I track coral growth?
Photograph each coral from the same angle, distance and lighting every two to four weeks. Comparing photos side by side shows growth, color change and recession far better than memory.
Why should I track when livestock was added?
Most losses have a cause in the weeks before: a new fish bullying, a pest on a new frag, or a parameter swing. A dated record lets you connect the dots.
Can I check if a new fish is compatible with my tank?
