Description
The Copperband Butterflyfish is a strikingly beautiful, saltwater fish known for its elongated snout and bright yellow bands contrasted against a darker body. It is a popular choice for aquarium hobbyists due to its unique appearance.
Reef Safe?
Yes, but with caution. While they are generally reef safe, they may nip at small invertebrates and coral.
Environment
Copperband Butterflyfish prefer a well-lit tank with plenty of hiding places. They require a variety of live rock for grazing and hiding. The water temperature should be between 72-78°F with a pH level between 8.1-8.4.
Behavior
Copperband Butterflyfish are generally peaceful but can be territorial with their own species. They are known to be somewhat shy and may hide when first introduced to a new environment. Once acclimated, they become more bold and active.

The trick is getting them to eat!! Mine has learned to eat from my hands and is so personable and always out. Never mean to anyone. Model citizen.

Once eating they are very strong and beneficial fish to a reef ecosystem. Very rarely do you find copperbands fearing on coral.

Great fish but can be finicky but highly suggest for tanks that have been established long enough

Not for beginners. But the most rewarding fish I’ve ever had in the hobby. Trained him to eat out of my hand, and he’d follow me around the tank. Huge personality but very difficult to get eating.
