Description
The Firefish Goby, also known as the Fire Dartfish, is a vibrantly colored, captivating saltwater fish. It has a unique look with a long, slender body and a dramatic coloration that fades from a creamy yellow in the front to a deep red-orange at the back. It has a dorsal fin that it can raise and lower, which adds to its visual appeal.
Reef Safe?
Yes. Firefish Gobies are reef safe and can coexist with corals and invertebrates without causing harm.
Environment
This species prefers a well-lit tank with plenty of hiding places. They thrive in environments with live rock for grazing and burrowing. They enjoy a moderate current and require good water quality with a stable temperature.
Behavior
Firefish Gobies are generally peaceful and shy creatures. They tend to be quite timid and will often hide when first introduced to a new environment. They are also known to jump when startled, so a well-covered aquarium is a must to prevent escapes.

Extremely peaceful, great color patterns, and most importantly, THEY JUMP. You need a lid to enjoy these guys, and even then you may find them on the floor in the morning. If placed in a tank with even moderately aggressive fish can be forced into hiding most of the day. But in a peaceful community tank they are very active and a great addition. Pros: unique color pattern, easy to keep, can fit into small aquariums Cons: jumpy, very timid and can be easily bullied into hiding most of the day Availability: everywhere has them

Very unique shape and amazing color, although this fish does like to hide!

Lovely little guy, he tends to hide out in the rocks for a good part of the day. If you want a fish that is constantly swimming around this isnโt it but I do see the appeal. They call them dart fish for a reason the second something happens theyโre gone in less than a second.

Have had a few of these fish and from my experience they only did well in my smaller tanks (40 gallon and smaller) but that could just be because I have some more aggressive and larger fish in my larger tank. Right now I have one in a 34gallon redsea tank and it sits right in the middle out in the open for everyone to see. Can be skittish but seems to have gotten used to movement outside the tank now and rarely hides anymore.

Beautiful looking fish with a skittish nature. Likes to hide in caves or under rocks. This fish is easily frightened and will dart away in to their hiding place. Can be aggressive to the same species unless they are partners. It's hard to tell male and female apart so would not recommend putting the same species together. Best to be put in a tank with a lid, they can jump out of your tank.

One of my favourites. Had 2 which both jumped out through the smallest holes ever (reason for medium difficulty). Can get bullied easily and will hide a lot if so. Get a lid!

Having a lid is a must as firefish jumps. My firefish loves swimming around and is great at finding good hiding spots at night.
