First of all, thanks for the compliments on the tank. We defiantly have to watch the sweepers on the LPS, and hard corals growing into one another. Beware of the Superman or the Rainbow type encrusting Montipora. It can be very dangerous to other SPS it comes in contact with. We are trying to note what coral can tolerate each other. We are running a gyre on one end and a mp40 type jeabo pump on the other. I have the gyre running a variety schedule and the round wave maker is on the same mode all day. We are trying to mimic the tides and lower/higher flow periods of natural reef. The LPS is happy in the flow because they are in the lower flow areas using rocks and other corals to direct or block the flow. We had issues with the flow being too hard until we put one powerhead at each end of the tank, creating a sign wave or standing wave which directs the flow straight down on the corals instead of from the side. It seems to have made a dramatic improvement to the flesh bands on our euphyllia, as well as all the other LPS polyp extension. Be on the lookout we will be having Frags posted for sale soon.
