Gotcha. I think concern would be Red Sea gets such a rap for tank failures, that sometimes they don’t get credit for their gear and because of that I was very conflicted, but this doser was referred to me and truthfully, I think it’s awesome. It’s easy to change, but it does make noise my wife always says “oh it’s dosing”. So being as I don’t have anything to compare it against I just wondered if mine is loud versus another brand.

Honestly I have a 3 yr old son and a 4 month old son so all I hear is them 🤣. I have a Red Sea Reefer 525XL it’s about 5 years old and never had a problem

Most reasons are people don’t level the tank or put support under the beams so over time all that weight shifts a little and there you go. I did a lot of research before buying a tank since I have about 30k in it. When this one ever goes I will get another Red Sea plug and play again. They come with everything you need but a UV and the dosers. Now they even give the reefmat

This is from a friend of mine whose tank failed this morning. His 3rd of 5 Red Sea tank fails. How ironic that we’re talking about it, and then this happens. They offered him 20% off a G2.

I can’t reply to that. All I know is mine has been fine and other people I know have not had issues but 1 and that was because it was not leveled good and the front blew out. Tell him try the gen 3 or 1 and 20% don’t sound right. How old is his tank

Tell your friend he needs to think 🤔 though it’s a pain in the ass and could lose live stock its worth it and if he is in the US if he registered he should of got 5 yrs if he brought the tank in the past 3 yrs because they was giving it free because of the sealant issue

Is that an option for Red Sea Tanks? I don’t know anything about the warranty options. I just know that he only had a three-year warranty maybe that extra $199 to get a five-year wasn’t available then?

Yes when you register when you first buy the tank you have options

Now if you don’t register it then all you get is 3 years. Always register any reefing equipment and always buy the extra warranty if you are buying top shelf equipment. It’s worth the no hassle if it goes out or something happens. If you don’t like Red Sea pump sicce stands on their products. AI not really they wiggle out of any issue over 30 days reef octopus stands on their products and Red Sea and eco tech

It’s funny my last tank was 21 years ago. I wasn’t up to speed on all these rimless tanks. I bought what I had then, now. It has a frame and a center brace which I wish it didn’t have a center brace. I would love to add a third light, but adding a third light would just create a shadow issue if I centered it on the tank. Plus the tank is only 18 inches front to back and adding an AI blade, or even Reef Bright strip would make it too difficult to be able to service the tank so I’ve bought a RMS mounting bracket so that I can add two more XR 15 G6 Pro’s. But I’m not totally sure I want to grow Acropora’s

He says it’s not a G2. The tank may be three years old in his possession, but maybe not three years old from the date of manufacture. I’m sure I’ll get the whole story when he has time.

You can cut the center out of the top. It is just to hold the plastic lights that fit it. I’m not really into spa though I have the lights for it. Waiting a few more years and I’m going to upgrade to a 625 725 and that will be my last tank. I have done different rack scapes all off the back wall but last 1 I will center them and go from there. I’m hoping they will make the glass flat in the back instead of the box over flow so gyre’s will run right

Agreed. Had a friend that ran his 150 display off hand dosing and I hurt for him lol.

I have the same doser. How do you like them? These are the first set I’ve had, I currently have 3 modules. Do you think they’re loud or about average?
I never hear mine. I prefer Red Sea but I let my friend talk me into these and so far so good
What was your reason for letting him convert you? Price? I always felt if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
Well my dumb ass had a reactor in my control panel and of course it blew a hose and fried all my gear. I know some people at sicce and reef octopus and AI so I got all my gear cheap so tried their products. But if not for the deals I got I would of Red Sea all the way
