Is that a fluffy Rhodactis he’s hosting???
Yes it is!
I wish mine would host something. They have a fluffy rhodactis btas euphyllia but NOTHING they drive me mad.
How long have you had them? I took it took mine like three months of being the tank to start hosting. It was Initially they would lay on it for a maximum of 10 seconds, and be like on /off/on/off a couple times a day, and then maybe another month before they would spend 50% of their time on it, and then eventually completely host it. So I would say just give it time. I used to try dropping food on top of the coral with a tube but that never worked bc it weirded them out lol so I think just have to let nature do its thing
The only thing they go near is my cynarina and deshy when I feed it so maybe 🤔 food is the trick.
It might just be your particular clowns then. Honestly as mine have gotten older the male is the only one that stays in it all day long. The female spends most of the day out in the water. Now they are only in it together at night. I feel like they’re so unpredictable sometimes. At the time they decided to host mushroom it was like 2 inches single head across. There was larger euphyllia at the time. Couldn’t tell you why they decided on the mushroom. Maybe changing the scape could help them try to rehome themselves
In all honesty I don’t mind that they don’t host anything anyway it can cause stress to the coral. However now I say that I know there gonna host my new 24k gold torch once it’s in the tank. Also if there’s anything I know about clowns is they do whatever you don’t want them to.
