Hi, I found this app while scrolling through FB. My last reef was from 2008 to 2011. I sold it for house move. Now in 2026, I decided to pick it up again. Wow have things changed. My tank is currently only a microbial display. I did a dry rock cycle in bins with starter bacteria. A month+ later I added caribsea fiji pink live sand and some of the wet rock and doing a second cycle with raw shrimp. I’m also trying out PNS Deep Cycle recommended by an LFS.

NEW cycled tank! What to do next?

I have a 32g tank that has been cycled for roughly 2 weeks. I have 2 clownfish, 1 springer damsel and 1 green chromi. When should I be expecting the “ugly stage” and what is next for my tank? When should I add my CUC?

Tank perimeters w/ Salifert test kit:

Ammonia: 0

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: 2

Hello! I’m happy to have joined this community, this is my first tank so I’m looking forward to learn from those with more experience and wisdom than me. If you have any advice please share with me! Let me know how I did for my first NSA aquascape.

One question I have is, I used live sand and some live rock. I also dosed bacteria and ammonia. My most recent test is showing near 0 ammonia, 0nitrite and .2 nitrate. What does that say? Is my cycle complete? Thanks everyone!

Hi, soon I’ll be getting first fish (clownfish) as the cycling’s complete but I will have to go on a trip for 3 days.. does anyone know if it’s okay if my lights are off for so long, tank is near the window during the day and there is a lot of natural light, but still, will it be a problem?
