Copperband attempt… again.
A few days ago I bought a Copperband Butterflyfish, a fish I’ve always loved but never had long-term success with. Either they stop eating or slowly fade away.
At the store he was already eating brine shrimp, which gave me some confidence.
Right now he’s in an acclimation box inside my display so he can observe the tank before release.
My biggest concern besides feeding is aggression from my tangs:
• Purple Tang
• Blue Eye Bristletooth Tang
I’ve been researching the clam on the half shell method for feeding and also the mirror trick to distract the tangs when I release him.
Let’s see how this one goes. I’ll document the journey.
Anyone here successfully kept a Copperband long term?
Looking for advice! We just set up a second smaller tank (60gl) and now cannot decide what to put in it. We originally had plans to do a seahorse tank but after research, have decided NOT to go that direction.
We have 125g setup now with more peaceful fish. One option is to relocate all my small fish into the smaller tank and then put a snowflake eel into the 125 with my blue tang, scopas tang & foxface.
Or build a second stock list in the new tank. Water is cycling now so we have some time to build it out. Suggestions welcome! 😄
Looking for opinions on final fish to add to my mixed reef tank. I have a 125 gallon (2’x2’x4’) tank. Currently have a quoyi parrot fish, 2 watanabei angels, a magnificent fox face, a mandarin, a Midas blenny, a naoko wrasse, 2 clowns, and a Randal goby. My plan is to add a bristle tooth tang (either a tomini or maybe a Kole tang) and maybe a Bella Rose goby? Or maybe a female mandarin as the male has bee showing off his fins lately. Is this too much? I have a large varied clean up crew, a 40g sump with an over sized skimmer, a lot of media and a Clarissea roller.

Hi everyone, this is my tank which is 30x20x20 (excluding the water filtration system area, it is 20x20x20) and has 1 mini Blue Tang, 1 Mini clownfish and 1 cleaner shrimp. I am currently looking to clean my sand bed. Do you have any suggestions on how to clean the sand bed, using any method or using any creatures? Thank you very much everyone.
Hello everyone,
Can I get help identifying this white spots please and how to proceed!
I’ve had this scopa tang for about a week and a half and just today showed symptoms of this white spots. Has them everywhere!
Some of the other fish mates have similar spots but not as bad as the tang.
Thank you all!!
Some tanks tell a story, and my second one was unforgettable. A unique collection, many caught by my own hands, and one rare gem I was lucky to find. But the reef has its challenges introducing that beauty sparked a fight with my yellow tang, leading to an ich outbreak that claimed most of my fish. A hard lesson learned in this delicate balance we call reefing.
