Working with Reef By Steele, I have been cultivating my own copepods and my own phytoplankton two different types of phytoplankton, one is diatom based and the other is just straight phytoplankton. The diatom beast helps compete in reducing diet blooms in your tank while feeding your corals, and obviously cultivating copepods makes my red mandarin very happy.
I feel like I am coming out the other side of of double Dino's (Ostreopsis and prorocentrum). Took about 2 weeks (luckily). Small UV for Ostreopsis. Silicate dosing for Protocentrum. Plus dosing neophos and neo nitro with micro after 7, copepods and live phyto.
Started my first copepods culture. Give Reef By Steele a try they’re awesome and the customer service can’t be beat! Kent and Sherry are the best!! Go to Reef2Reef to vote “Best Live Food Provider-Best live foods, customer service etc….”
Day 7.. 8:30am. I think this will be my last day posting this Phytoplankton /copepods project. 7 days into this cool project. I've now learned to be patient..🤭🤭😂😂 it's like the hardest thing to be, right.. but I like to thank everyone who left comments and inspired me to keep going. I like our saltwater community here. So I will harvest my fist dose of phytoplankton on Sunday to pour into my display tank. As For the copepods I'll have to wait a little longer. There are still babies, not ready yet. If I can do this, so can you. Not that hard. Just be vigilant with it. And patience is key. Thanks everybody.😃😃
Just waiting for nature to take it’s place. Had a diatom bloom a week ago blacked out my tank for 3 days (didn’t turn on lights) algae cleared up dusted the rocks off and did a water change. During the 3day blackout Copepods Breed like crazy they were all over the glass !
