Zoanthids, commonly known as 'Zoas', are a type of coral that are popular in reef aquariums due to their vibrant colors and ease of care. They are colonial corals, meaning they grow in clusters or mats, and can come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Zoanthids are photosynthetic and rely on symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae to provide them with energy. They are hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for beginners. However, care should be taken as some species can produce palytoxin, a potent toxin.
