Temperament
Description
A small combtooth blenny with a whitish lower body and tan-to-dark-brown upper body marked by horizontal lines and a row of dark rectangular blotches, plus oversized eyes and bushy cirri that give it a comical face. Peaceful and endlessly entertaining, it perches on rockwork and grazes film algae all day, but will squabble with other blennies or look-alike gobies, so keep just one per tank. Provide 30+ gallons with abundant live rock, ledges and caves, a tight-fitting lid, and supplement grazing with spirulina/nori-based foods; it may nip Acropora and other SPS polyps and occasionally clam mantles in coral-dominated systems.
Reef Safe
With caution
Environment
Requires a well-established tank with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
Behavior
Active and curious, often seen perching on rocks or darting around the tank.
