Description
The Spotted Unicornfish is a large, active surgeonfish with an oval body, a pointed snout, and a pattern of small dark spots across a gray to olive body. Adults may develop a modest horn-like projection on the forehead and possess sharp caudal spines near the tail. It is a strong swimmer that requires abundant open space and excellent water quality.
Reef Safe
Yes
Environment
Requires a very large, well-oxygenated marine aquarium with strong circulation, stable salinity, plenty of swimming room, and high water quality. Provide live rock for grazing and hiding, along with regular offerings of marine algae.
Behavior
Active, constantly swimming grazer that does best with ample open water. Generally non-destructive and usually ignores corals, but can be stressed in cramped quarters and may become territorial toward similar-shaped tangs.
