Sono a dieci giorni dalla mia prima vasca marina e sono sopraffatto da tutto quello che devo imparare. Guardo brsTV in continuazione. Ho usato sabbia viva, 1/2 rocce vive e 1/2 secche, smart cycle e PNS Deep Cycle. L’ammoniaca è arrivata a zero ieri, ma i miei nitriti e nitrati sono ancora alti. Non vedo l’ora di mettere i pesci, ma voglio fare le cose per bene. Sto anche preparando una vasca di quarantena da 10 gal.
Ten days into my first saltwater tank and overwhelmed with so much to learn. Watching brsTV like crazy. I did live sand, 1/2 live rock & 1/2 dry, smart cycle and PNS Deep Cycle. My ammonia hit zero yesterday but my Nitrites and Nitrates are still high. Itching to put fish in but I want to do it right. I’m also in the process of setting up a 10 gal. quarantine tank.

Something I’ve learned: buy aquacultured (not wild caught) fish. They do far better in these small tanks! Most clownfish are aquacultured but there are a ton of cool fish as well. Less risky and mor sustainable IMO
That’s my plan! 😊 I want to do a pair of clowns and maybe a goby. Then pretty much all softies with the exception of a torch or hammer or both. I want it to be as easy and as positive of an experience as possible!
I was itching to put fish in my saltwater tank when I first started it but patience is key to a thriving ecosystem

Welcome to the hobby! I know how stressful the first few weeks can be and the information overload is real. Typically Ammonia and Nitrite should be 0, and nitrate should be detectable once the cycle is done. Once your over the cycling and quarantining hurdles- it’s mostly smooth sailing from there.
Thank you!!! 😊
