Aquí va mi reto con mi acuario. Acabo de hacer un cambio de agua. Llevo peleando con esta alga tipo “green hair” desde que tuve mi acuario de 40 galones. Sigue en este de 125 galones. La plataforma de la mitad con los pedacitos de zoa y el tubo en la pared de atrás. La saco y la limpio con peróxido. Pero el otro trabajo de roca es demasiado para sacarlo y limpiarlo de la misma forma. Mis parámetros son: SG: 1.025 TEMP: 78 ALK: 8.9 CA: 430 MG: 1290 PH: 8.2 NO3: 4 PO4: 0.00... ahora mi tol/stool no ha estado abierto en 2 semanas. Y mi GSP no abre porque limpié el tubo. Así que voy drástico y voy a poner el GFO de nuevo en el sump. Odio decir cuánto gasté. Pero pedí unos peces nuevos para ayudar con esta alga. Yellow Tang, tomini tang, one spot foxface rabbitfish, y más.
Here's my challenge with my tank. Just did a water change. I've been fighting this green hair algae since I had my 40 gallon tank. It continues in this 125 gallon. The half platform with the little zoa's and the tube on the back wall. I take it out and peroxide clean it. But the other Rock work is just to much to take out and clean the same way. My parameters are: SG: 1.025 TEMP: 78 ALK: 8.9 CA: 430 MG: 1290 PH: 8.2 NO3: 4 PO4: 0.00... now my toldstool hasn't been open for 2 weeks. And my GSP won't open because I cleaned the tube. So, I'm going drastic and I'm putting the GFO back in the sump. I hate to say how much I spent. But I ordered some New fish to help with this algae. Yellow Tang, tomini tang, one spot foxface rabbitfish, and more.

Also. Have you tried shrimp? I don't know If you can because of the foxface or tang though
considera checar bacterias benéficas. Esto convertiría o diluiría la amonía. si tienes un kit de prueba de amoníaco yo probaría tus niveles. creo que el problema que estás enfrentando se llama new tank syndrome. yo nunca he enfrentado ese problema, pero recuerdo haber leído un artículo sobre tu situación hace meses.
consider looking into beneficial bacteria. this would convert dilute your ammonia. if u have an ammonia test kit i would test your levels. i believe the problem you’re facing is called new tank syndrome. i have never faced the problem myself but remember reading an article about your situation months back.

yo también quitaría por completo el ciclo de luz blanca. Ese es el ciclo de luz que yo uso y nunca he tenido problema con alga. No tengo nada de luz blanca en mi acuario
i would also completely get rid of ur white light cycle. this is the light cycle i run and have never had a problem with algae. i have 0 white light in my tank

Los corales no dependen de la luz blanca. Los azules más profundos es lo que hace que crezcan. No sé qué luz usas, pero si tiene un ajuste de “cool blue” o solo azul claro, ahí es donde les sale lo de las blancas. Voy a adjuntar una foto que muestra el color correspondiente a las abreviaciones. No sigas ese porcentaje que voy a mirar, mejor copia y pega el de la que adjunté antes. Vas a ver que tus corales vuelven a abrir en el transcurso del día o 2.
Corals are not reliant on white light. deeper blues is what causes them to grow. idk what light you use but if it has a “cool blue” or just a light blue setting that is where it will get it whites from. i’ll attach a picture that shows the matching color to the abbreviations. do not follow this percentage i’m going to look but rather copy and paste the one i attached earlier. you will begin to see your corals open back up within the next day or 2.

Genial... gracias. Soy nuevo en todo esto. Pero sí quiero probarlo. Tengo 3 luces AI Prime. Sabes, las de 16" o 18".. sí tienen los ajustes de Royal blue y Blue.

oh eso está buenísimo. hay un grupo de facebook súper bueno que te da el espectro exacto de iluminación que uso. hay un par de opciones distintas que cambian la hora del día. voy a adjuntar una captura del grupo. te recomiendo los penny wise deadlights. mejor que cualquier setup de luz que yo haya usado. da click en lo que tengo marcado y de ahí te vas. si tienes preguntas sobre cómo cargar este preset en tu app de AI, con gusto te ayudo
oh that’s spectacular. there is they really terrific facebook group that provides the exact lighting spectrum i use. there are a couple different options that just change the time of day. i’ll attach a screenshot of the group. i suggest the penny wise deadlights. better than any light setup i have ever used. click what i have circled and go from there. if u have any questions about how to load this preset into your AI app glad to help
Yo sugeriría bajar el tiempo de luz hasta que tengas el alga bajo control. Además, tus fosfatos deberían estar bajos pero no en 0, porque eso puede causar dinoflagelados... nada más de pesadilla. No soy pro, pero eso es lo mejor que puedo decirte 😂
I would suggest cutting your light time back until you have the algae under control. Also, your phosphates should be low but not 0, that can cause dinoflagellates…nothing short of a nightmare. I’m not a pro but that’s the best I can tell you 😂

Hey, yo he tenido el mismo problema desde antes de mi 90, cuando tenía mi 40 galones. Y ya volvió en mi 90. Probé de todo. Incluso saqué todas mis rocas en un punto y le di con un cepillo de dientes para quitársela. Las regresé y en una semana o dos ya estaba todo de nuevo. No puedo decir que ya esté completamente resuelto, pero llevo como 2-3 días con chemipure en mi sistema y he visto una reducción significativa en la GHA que tengo. Como que ya se fue la mitad en cuestión de días. Otra vez, no la ha borrado todavía, pero parece que hace el truco para mí. Mis nitratos siempre eran como >1 ppm y mis fosfatos como .05 o sea no es mucho, pero la gha se lo estaba comiendo todo. Vale la pena intentarlo, en mi opinión. Otra cosa: la GHA y la mayoría de las algas en general crecen mejor con luces blancas. Yo mantengo mis azules al 80-90 por ciento y las blancas como en 15-20 por ciento y parecía ayudar a que no creciera tanto. Otra vez no sé si funcione, pero tal vez bajando las blancas y más azules podría ayudar, y seguro tus corales te lo van a agradecer porque casi todos solo necesitan luces azules.
Hey, I’ve had(having) the same issue from before my 90 when I had a 40 gallon. And it’s back in my 90 now. I tried everything. I even took all my rocks out at one point and hit it all with a toothbrush to get it off. Put it back in and in a week or 2 it’s all back. I can’t say it’s fully worked yet but I’ve had chemipure in my system for like 2-3 days now and I’ve seen a significant reduction in the GHA I have. Like half is gone in a matter of days. Again it hasn’t wiped it out yet but it seems to be doing the trick for me. My nitrates were always like >1 ppm and my phosphates were like .05 or so. Which isn’t a lot but the gha was just taking it all in. Worth a shot imo Another thing is, gha and most algae in general grow better under white lights. I keep my blues at 80-90 percent and the whites at about 15-20 percent and it seemed to help it from growing more. Again not sure if it’ll help but maybe cutting back on the whites and more blues could help, and I’m sure your corals will thank you too because most only need blue lights anyways.

Estaba pensando en usar químicos.. pero la neta sí me daba mucho miedo. Quiero ver si se puede hacer de forma natural primero. Pero si sigue, podría probar chemipure. Gracias por el tip.
I was thinking of using chemicals.. but been really afraid to. I'm trying to see if it can be done naturally first. But if it continues. I might give chemipure a try. Thanks for the tip.

Pues todo el chemipure elite es, carbon activado en pellets, resina capturadora de orgánicos, y óxido férrico granular (GFO). O sea no son “químicos” como tal. Solo cosas para pelear tu GHA por los nutrientes y se la va quitando naturalmente. Pero todo viene en una bolsita para meterla durante 2-4 meses y funciona como hechizo, así he escuchado.
Well all chemipure elite is, is pelletized carbon, organic scavenger resin, and granular ferric oxide (GFO). So it’s not really chemicals. Just shit to fight your GHA for nutrients and kills it naturally. But it’s all in one baggy you throw in for 2-4 months and it works like a charm so I’ve heard

Ahora que dijiste el GFO.. ese va a ser mi plan. Voy a poner 10 cucharadas de GFO en una bolsita con malla que tengo. Y lo voy a poner en mi sump después de lavarlo. Luego voy a cambiar la configuración de mis luces a solo luz azul. Y lo voy a probar por un par de semanas. Quiero comprobar una teoría.. si estoy alimentando a la GHA con las luces blancas. Vamos a comprobarlo. 🤔🙂
Now that you stated GFO.. this will be my plan. I'm going to put 10 tbsp of GFO in a netted bag I have. And put it in my sump after washing it. Then I'm going to change my light settings to Blue light only. And try that for a couple of weeks. I want to test out a theory..if I'm feeding the GHA with the white lights. Let's test that out. 🤔🙂

Hola aqua_reefer450... Tengo una mezcla de unos 6 cangrejos de patas azules y patas rojas. Unos 20 caracoles cerith, unos 15 caracoles nerita. Tuve un montón de caracoles nuisarios. Tengo más de ellos en mi sump. 2 camarones peppermint. El tercer camarón peppermint está en mi sump. 1 cangrejo esmeralda. 1 erizo azul tuxedo... Creo que eso es todo... en este video hay demasiada luz. Pero sí salen en la oscuridad.
Hi aqua_reefer450... I have a mixer of about 6 Blue legged and red legged crabs. About 20 cerith snails about 15 nerit snails. I had a whole bunch of nuasarous snails. I have more of them in my sump. 2 peppermint shrimp. The 3rd peppermint shrimp is in my sump. 1 emerald crab. 1 blue tuxedo urchin... I think that's all of it.. in this video there's to much light. But they do come out in the dark.

Add more hermits, rule is 1 for every gallon. I did this and my issues are gone.

Hola, solo quería decir que no tengo nada de experiencia. La alga crece por nitratos, fosfatos y la luz. Una vez que identifiques el problema, el grupo de limpieza que elegiste podría funcionar bien. Tienes nitratos más bien bajos pero fosfatos altos. Eso puede contribuir a que crezca mucha alga. Además de que hay demasiada luz, puede tomarlo todo. ¿Tienes las luces encendidas más de 8 horas al día o le da luz del sol?
Hi, I just wanted to say I have 0 experience. Algae grows from nitrates, phosphates, and light. Once you've figured out what the issue is the clean up crew you've chosen could do well. You have lowish nitrates but high phosphates. That can contribute to a lot of algae growth. In addition to too much light you can have a take over of it. Do you have your lights on for more than 8 hours a day or does it see sunlight?

Sí, yo prendo las luces solo en color azul empezando a las 9am hasta el 12noon y luego como al mediodía prenden las blancas muy poquito hasta como las 8pm, luego empiezan a bajar y se apagan a las 9pm. Cuando tenía mi acuario de 40 galones usaba las luces solo 5 horas. Pero mis corales no se veían tan bien. Perdí muchos corales. Le pega algo de sol, pero no lo suficiente como para ver el acuario. Tengo 3 camarones peppermint y un buen grupo de limpieza. Y solo alimento 2 veces al día. También tengo un erizo tuxedo. Pero esta alga sigue regresando.
Hi.. xm8si. Yes I run my lights just blue color starting at 9am til 12noon then at around noon the whites come on very lightly until about 8pm then it starts to dim down and shuts down at 9pm. When I had my 40 gallon tank I use to run the lights just 5 hours. But my corals didn't look so good. I lost a lot of corals. It gets some sunlight. But not strong enough to see the tank. I do have 3 peppermint shrimp and a robust clean up crew. And I only feed 2 times a day. I have a tuxedo urchin to. But this algae just keeps coming.

Honestamente, por todo lo mucho que “he hecho” y he investigado, diría que estás haciendo lo que yo creo que es la solución. ¡Te tengo la fe! Y esperando con paciencia la solución. (Otra vez, sin experiencia) Mantente firme y cambia una sola cosa a la vez. Has hecho algo para mantener vivos los corales todo este tiempo. Lo único que se me ocurre es el desbalance entre bacterias y... peces y descarte de coral...? Detritus? Eso era lo que decía Isaiah
I'm glad you got more experienced comments. Honestly with how much " I've done" and researched. I'd say you're doing what I believe the solution would be. I'm rooting for you! And patiently waiting the solution. (Again no experience) keep steady and change one thing at a time. You've done something to keep the corals alive as long as you have The only thing I can think of is the imbalance between bacteria and...fish and coral discard...? Detritus? Which Isaiah was talking about
