Welkom! Terugkomend op wat @JoseC588 aanbeval. Ik zou een PAR meter huren van je LFS en een dag je aquarium in kaart brengen met het licht ingesteld op verschillende intensiteitsniveaus. Op deze manier heb je veel beter kans op succes als het gaat om het geven van de juiste hoeveelheid licht aan koraal. Ik zou je ook aanraden om naar testsets te kijken, ze te kopen en je waterparameters te gaan testen. Daarna doe je wat ik doe en leer je hoe je je waterparameters onderhoudt. Bijvoorbeeld. Alkaliteit. Ik heb een fles Red Sea Foundation B gehaald om de niveaus goed te krijgen en ze daar te houden. Door elke dag te testen, heb ik ontdekt dat mijn alkaliteit elk 24 uur 0.3 daalt. Dus zodra ik mijn niveaus iets hoger krijg, zal ik ongeveer 3ml per dag moeten doseren. Ik ben nieuw, net als jij. Ik heb mezelf moeten weerhouden van het uitgeven van honderden dollars aan koraal en vis. Waarom? Omdat ik geen stabiele parameters heb. Dat komt doordat ik niet weet wat ik doe. Hahaha! Laten we het echt langzaam aan doen. We willen niet dat onze eerste (mijn tweede) ervaring snel zuur wordt alleen maar omdat we dingen hebben overhaast! De mooie koraal komen snel genoeg…
Welcome! Adding on to what @JoseC588 recommended. I'd go rent a PAR meter from your LFS and spend the day mapping out your tank with the light set to different intensity ratings. This way, you'll have a much better chance at success when it comes to providing coral with the right light. I would also recommend that you look into test kits, buy them, and start testing your water parameters. Then, do what I'm doing and learn how to maintain your water parameters. For instance. Alkalinity. I got a bottle of Red Sea Foundation B to get the levels right and keep them there. Through testing every day, I've found that my alkalinity drops 0.3 every 24 hours. So once I get my levels up a bit more, I'll have to dose about 3ml a day. Im new, just like you. I've had to refrain myself from dropping hundreds of dollars on coral and fish. Why? Because I don't have stable parameters. That's because I don't know what I'm doing. Hahaha! So let's take it really slow. We don't want our first (my second) experience to go sour fast all because we rushed things! The pretty coral will come soon enough..

Nog een snelle vraag….. wat is Red Sea en moet ik dat ook gebruiken om mijn alkaliteit op peil te houden????

Red Sea is een bedrijf...je hoeft nu nog niet te doseren omdat je geen koraal hebt... je alk en andere parameters zullen een tijdje fluctueren vooral omdat het een gloednieuw systeem is...Doe gewoon regelmatige waterversersingen nadat het aquarium is gecycled...ongeveer 10% elke week of om de week...wees geduldig!! Tijd is je beste vriend in dit hobby...
Red Sea is a company...no need to dose now since you don't have corals... your alk and other parameters will fluctuate for a while especially since it's a brand new system...Just do periodic water changes after the tank has cycled...roughly 10% each week or every other week...be patient!! Time is your best friend in this hobby...

Ik ben het daar niet helemaal mee eens. Bij het cyclen daalt alk en trekt het ph omlaag. Dit is iets wat je moet monitoren ook al heb je geen koraal. Voor dat stadium van alkaliteitsdaling tijdens het cyclen kun je naar seachem reef builder kijken wat carbonaat en bicarbonaat is wat helpt om alk en ph te verhogen. Daarna wil je alkaliteit en cal nog steeds monitoren ook zonder koraal. Gewoon niet zo vaak. De reden is dat je rotsen en zand alk/cal zullen opnemen en eruit lekken uit het water. Je kunt naar all-for-reef kijken wat je handmatig of geautomatiseerd kunt mengen en doseren. Mag zal in lijn lopen maar doet niet terzake zonder koraal.
I kinda disagree. When cycling alk drops and pulls ph down. This is something you should monitor even though you don't have corals. For that stage of alk drops during cycling you can link at seachem reef builder which is carbonate and bicarbonate which helps raise alk and ph. Afterwards you still want to monitor alk and cal even without corals. Just not as frequently. Reason is your rocks and sand will absorb alk/cal leaching it from the water. You can look at all-for-reef which you can mix and dose manually or automated. Mag will fall in line but doesn't matter with no corals.

Ik zal zeker meer onderzoek doen voordat ik koraal krijg, maar kunnen jullie snel uitleggen wat het betekent dat koraal verbleekt en hoe hou ik een nieuw stukje koraal ervan af te verbleeken als ik al koraal in het aquarium heb. Ik heb er natuurlijk geen omdat ik het langzaam aan wil doen maar ik was gewoon benieuwd wat verbleking was
I will definitely do more research way before I get coral, but can y’all quickly explain what it means for corals to bleach and how do I keep a new coral from bleaching if I already have coral in the tank. I don’t of course because I want to take it slow but I was curious what bleaching was

Doe gewoon 10% waterversersingen eens per week, en doseer niets. Het licht klinkt alsof het sterker kan zijn dan je nodig hebt. Reken op 1 tot 2 watt per gallon
Just do 10% Water change s once a week, and don't dose anything. Light sounds like it could be a stronger than you need. Figure 1 to 2 watts per gallon

100w lijkt veel voor een 20g aquarium. Je zult het waarschijnlijk flink moeten dimmen zodra je koraal erin hebt. Als het een nieuw aquarium is, duurt het even voordat je het hebt gecycled en gestabiliseerd genoeg voor koraal. Moeilijk om de niveaus in te schatten zonder een Par meter. Het beste is om laag te beginnen en de intensiteit langzaam over dagen/weken op te voeren zodat de koraal niet verbleekt.
100w seems like a lot for a 20g tank. You might need to tune it way down once you get corals in. If it's a new tank, it will take a while before you cycle and stabilize enough for corals, tho. Hard to tell the levels without a Par meter. Best is to start low and ramp up the intensity slowly over days/weeks so the corals don't bleach.
