Im about a year into the hobby and I never seen this before… can you explain what it’s for I know it has to keep algae out of the tank just curious how it works .

Water rains or drips down a screen that has a refugium light shining on it. Algae grows on that . So no algae in main tank . Also wil helpl raise ph which helps coral growth. And also removes nitrates and phosphate to almost zero levels.

Nice job, looks great. What happens if the drain at the bottom clogs? Do you have an emergency over flow?

I don't , but I could always add it. The first one I made I did put two drains , but never clogged. So I just did one on this build. I have had no issues with clogging. Maintenance is key though.
