Anyone know what this algae might be? About 5 months old post cycle 20 gallon tank. Had ostreopsis dinoflagettes in my tank (using a microscope from my friend), and was wondering is this is either hair algae or a new form of dinos. Nitrates at 5ppm, Alk 7.3, Phos 0.06, Salinity 1.026,

Forgot to mention but this new algae occurred after I installed a UV sterilizer and did a 3 day blackout for the dinos.

Interesting. Are you sure your test results are right?? At nitrate 5 and Phos that low, it should develop such algae?? I recommend a full water change and get it tested with a proper test kit.

I’m using Hanna for Phos. Salifert for Nitrate. Are those fine?

The nutrients may also be low bc and algae like this is consuming alot of it

Maybe get a Sea Hare slug ?

Donabella Sea hare. Won't nuke your tank when it starves but id remove it before then

Not sure , just ask your Local Fish Store for a Sea Hare and ask if you can just have him for acouple days then bring him back you’ll get store credit

I got a sea hare for my algae problem several months ago. No clue what kind it was but it did the job in a few days. Probably going to get another one soon cause it grew back lol
