Anybody know what this is?

I know about the spirorbid worms (free cleanup crew, far as I’m concerned); I’m asking about the long stringy thing.

Im very interested. Haven’t ever seen something like this.

For the life of me, I can’t find anything on it. It almost looks like a very small strand of caulerpa macroalgae, but I’ve never seen any THAT small.

Looks like it’s on the glass? Interesting how the hairy things are so evenly spaced out hah

User Avatar @Wade325 1y

It sure is, yeah. That’s what’s got me thinking about caulerpa, because they’re spaced like that.

But the caulerpa theory seems pretty far fetched though lol

@BradMac5618 you ever seen this?

User Avatar @BradMac5618 1y

No this ones new to me but it looks very similar to some less common snail eggs. What CUC do you have?

User Avatar @BradMac5618 1y

After alittle digging my two best guesses are a uncommon algae strain. Or unfortunately more likely a strain of branching Hydroid.

I’ll take a picture of it in the microscope and post it here later today.
