Including a wide variety of LEDs in the 380 - 500 nm range will ensure you get the best “pop” out of all your corals. I stumbled upon this great example while playing around with these flashlights after dark in the frag tank. Some popular LED bars used for supplement (and even some main fixtures!) only contain one or two different wavelengths of blue LEDs, but with this setup you’re likely missing out on some corals which fluoresce at different wavelengths. When I’m looking for an LED bar to supplement “pop” I look for something that includes as many different wavelength diodes as possible.

This is awesome. All those Acro frags look insane under the blues and you’re totally right about spectrum making a massive difference in coral color pop. I’ve definitely noticed some SPS glow way more when you play with the wavelengths a bit!

Very cool. Did not know that. What lights do you like best?
Orphek OR3/OR4 Blue Plus offers the most diversity of diodes in a supplement bar that I’ve found.
