I've been having issues with mine it's 6 inchs but I've noticed it had lost color on the skin it was bright blue but I've noticed some browning but it's extend3d good and all tank parameters are good.
Itβs not getting enough light, A blue maxima clam browning is usually a sign that it's not receiving enough light. It can cause the zooxanthellae and it causes a lose and decline of color, maxima need a lot of light like intense light to thrive
Itβs also opening all the way out just to get as much as light as possible
Interesting I'm maybe getting 300 par I'll see how it resolves I did just switch to t5 ho fixture
Yea these clams require a lot of light
Interesting worse case I'll trade it in for some coral or somthing but was highly hoping this one would be good at the very too of the tank where it should be doing perfect even been feeding phytoplankton
Yea keep it on watch

I wouldn't out and clam in the sand bed without a cradle or work they can get seriously messed up from the glass bottom
I have a frag plate under the clam in the sand so if they stick they stick on the frag and that happened
Smart move i never thought about using a frag plate good idea π‘ I have a maximal i want to move but I'm unable to from rock work Sadly π₯ I'm hoping he just stays happy there he's 6 inchs
Thatβs very nice!! Yea when I moves it from the top of my tank to the bottom on the sand he was stuck to the frag but then because of the move he detaches and he attached again π
