Whoops! I added a fleece roller to my system. At the same time, I lowered my daily feeding frequency from 2-3, down to 1 a day. Also added a bag of copepods.

My nitrates were 7ppm, and phosphates were .03ppm before the changes.

I've not tested these two parameters since making the changes about a month ago. Was about to do a water change, so I decided to test em. I'm glad I did.

Im considering my options because I dont want these two bottomed out. Some of my corals have looked less happy than usual, and this is probably why.

Do I? -

• Do smaller water changes

• Increase the feeding

• Do less frequent water changes

• Throw it all away

I had originally made these changes to combat the uglies. It worked..

With bottomed out nutrients you will get the worse kind of uglies, it’s always better to be on the higher side than to have bottomed out nutrients, skip a water change, increase feeding, test regularly and make sure to follow the instructions to the T!

Alright, I'll stick to that and see how it goes. I was leaning towards exactly what you recommended. Thanks, buddy!

No problem!

Yeah I’d skipped the water change as well. Maybe consider even some Phytafeast to help get some phosphate to come back up a little bit.

Are you dosing any product in this tank ?

User Avatar @FloridaMan007 291d

Just Red Sea Alkalinity. Starting to dose Calcium and Magnesium, Im considering making a switch to AFR. I still haven't gotten the nitrates and phosphates to rise. Added a fish yesterday. I'm gonna do a smaller waterchange than im used to doing today.
