Day 30.
Only 3 fish, but lots of easy corals, copepods, some inverts and live rock. Plus a steady dosing routine of nitrification bacteria.
The "ugly" stage lasted less than a 4 days and I think I am most happiest with the growth of that patch of macroalgae which I am sure is ripping out the Nitrate and phosphate but is wiping out the pest algae.
The goni isn't thriving but a drop of manganese seems to be assisting now, and I should probably try and get the peppermint shrimp out now they took care of the aiptasia but are now free to harass the BTA. Which the Clowns are not impressed by.

Well I got my triton lab results in there were 12 screen shots and it will only let me load 8 but anyway even with weekly water changes my iodine is low guess it’s time to dose that now
(10 months )= 1 crash at 4months due to lack of water change no husbandry at all + 6months of water change 30% every2 weeks + coral hauls 🤑🤑 (soon to dose all for reef ) need more corals too ….. saving up for Reefapalooza New York 2026 in June !!!!!!
How often is everyone else testing? I test every Sunday morning before my lights go on. I also do a 10 %water change religiously every Sunday. These numbers are tropic Marin pro reef salt with 7 ml of soda ash mixed with 4 gallons of water for my weekly water change to bring my alk up to around 9. I also dose 2.5 ml twice a week of potassium and 3ml daily of all for reef.
Hey guys, i just started this acquarium 3 days ago, i have live sand and tomorrow im addimg live rock, some bits while also dosing bacteria. Any tips for beginners?
Question! I’ve been dosing R2R for a couple weeks now and got my alkalinity, mag and calcium pretty dialed in after some trial and error and daily testing. My PH has been running on the high side, about 8.6 average with sometimes Hanna blinking so might be a little more than that. Everything seems happy, would you do anything to lower it a little? Been doing some reading and maybe simply changing positioning of the wave maker and pumps to get more surface agitation or would adding a protein skimmer help?? Welcome to any suggestions! Thanks!
Hi all,
Wonder if you can help.
My tank at the moment is using KH like you wouldn’t believe. Levels I have never seen before.
I am currently dosing Red Sea Foundation B (image below), alongside foundation A and C.
My question, Is there a cheaper alternative available in the UK with the same quality? Or would anyone know a reason as to why the KH is depleting so quickly?
For reference, I like to keep the KH around 10 and dosing around 212ml per week to maintain this level! (via automatic daily dosing of 30ml)
Anyone have some tips to maintain calcium? I’m having some trouble with it averaging between 399 and 540…other levels have been good. I was dosing weekly Nano part A and B, but quit to kind of monitor things and didn’t see much of a change. I’m great with my water changes, do 15-20% every weekend.
Help! My pH has crashed since I started carbon dosing. I’m already dosing kalkwasser and have two CO2 scrubbers. Anyone have any ideas how to get it back above 8.2?
To all that dose all for reef. Why would my alkalinity drop with no change in Calcium with AFR dosing?
First time using all for reef, says to adjust my parameters, I just did that but confused on when to start dosing all for reef, can I do it immediately after adjusting my parameters or do I have to wait for them to drop a bit?
