Community feedI have a reef aquarium with an orange Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). The water was clear and everything seemed normal. Suddenly, within just a few minutes, the water became completely cloudy and milky white.
Just before the water turned cloudy, I noticed a white, smoke-like substance coming directly from the anemone. The anemone remained attached to the rock and its tissue appeared intact.
One additional detail: this anemone has a history of splitting and reproducing asexually, usually dividing into two anemones.
Could this have been a spawning event, mucus release, or something related to the anemone splitting? Is there a risk to the fish and corals, and what should I do immediately?
