Hola a todos... soy nuevo aquí. Apenas soy principiante. Hace 2 años empecé con un tanque de 15 galones y luego pasé a uno de 40 galones y ahora tenemos un nuevo acuario de agua salada de 125 galones. Ha sido un reto, pero sí me gusta este hobby. Sigo aprendiendo.

Hi everyone... I'm New here. I'm just a beginner. 2 years ago I started with a 15 gallon and then moved into a 40 gallon and now we have a new 125 gallon saltwater tank. It's been challenging but I do like the hobby. Still learning.

Gracias. Sí, es un Aqueon básico. Yo hice la base y la plomería yo mismo.

Genial, ese es el mismo acuario que tengo. Lo compré al principio sin darme cuenta de que necesitaba un overflow. Terminó que perforé unos cuantos agujeros en la parte de atrás, lo cual dio bastante miedo jaj.

Sweet that’s the same tank I have. I bought it initially not realizing I needed an over flow. Ended up drilling a few holes in the back which was quite scary hah.

También estuve tentado a perforar. Pero me eché para atrás y decidí construir estas tuberías de sifón por gravedad de PVC. Funcionan bien. Solo tengo que estar al pendiente de mi nivel de agua porque a veces se rompe el sifón y entonces tengo que reiniciarlas. Pero no me importa. No se va a desbordar porque tiene la cantidad correcta de agua para que no..🤭 tuve que probarlo un par de veces.

I was also tempted to drill. But I chicken out and decided to build these syphon gravity pipes out of PVC. They work well. I just have to keep an eye out on my water level because sometimes they break syphon and then I have to reset them. But I don't mind. It won't overflow because it has the proper amount of water not to..🤭 had to test it a couple of times.

¿Ya probaste un apagón? Si tu bomba de retorno se apaga, querrás asegurarte de que tu sifón no siga jalando agua hasta el punto de que se desborde tu sump

Have you tested power outage? If your return pump goes out you’ll want to make sure your siphon doesn’t continue pulling out water to a point your sump overflows

Hola maleficent... Sí. Tienes razón sobre el sifón si se va la luz. Pero no van a desbordar el sump. Yo hice los míos para que solo sifoneen hasta el borde de la parte superior del acuario. Son como 9 galones. Cuando se va la luz llena el sump de 40 galones hasta la mitad del sump. Tengo 2 contenedores separados en la parte de abajo de mi instalación. uno es para el skimmer y el otro es el sump de 40 galones.

Hi maleficent... Yes. You are correct about the siphon if the power goes out. But they won't overflow the sump. I built mines to only syphon out up to the edge of the top of the tank. It's about 9 gallons. When the power goes out it fills the 40 gallon sump to halfway of the sump. I have 2 separate containers on the bottom of my set up. one is for the skimmer and the other is the 40 gallon sump.
